Sound: It's a MIDI Trigger - there is no sound, but as a trigger controller, it has excellent flexibility, sensitivity adjustments, plenty of adjustments for cross-talk, re-triggering, etc. As someone else noted, would like to see a software program so these settings can be adjusted via a computer and SysEx recorded. Doing everything with 2 up/down buttons gets tiring, and harder to remember when you have multiple set-ups for different drum modules. Feature: Like having TRS on all trigger inputs, and plenty of them. All metal boxing, with good rubber buttons (ala DM-4). Ease of Use: Pretty easy to get the settings correct, once you get a solid MIDI kit set that has the base sounds you want to work with. Quality: Very well made - like having USB powered as an option (one less wall-wort adapter around). Wish the rack mount portion was made of light aluminum or steel, but the composite used was fine. Value: Unless you find a used DM-4 or older multi-input module around (which do not have as much adjustment flexibility), you won't beat the value for what it does. Manufacturer Support: Alesis is by musicians, for musicians. It helps a lot. Overall: Will use this for years to get lots more mileage out of the triggers that came with my Logitech Wii Wireless drum set. Have easily added regular pads and cymbals from Yamaha and Roland, and everything works great!
