Absolutely free of distortion even at high sound pressure levels, very low diaphragm resonance, a relatively narrow-band rising high frequency response at 4 kHz, and an extremely robust construction are the outstanding features of this microphone.

"Great for live sound, ok in the studio"
This is a good mic for micing kick drum live as it will take any SPL level a drummer (or a bass cabinet) can throw at it. The presence peak helps the "click" cut through a dense rock mix. It works the same way in the studio, but you begin to notice that it has a sound of its own, and not always a good one. I don't recommend micing both the bass and the kick drum with these, as they'll end up sounding an awful lot alike.

"Solid bass drum mic"
Placed inside the bass drum, this mic is outstanding. Solid clear sound even without EQ. I have even tried it on vocals and it's not bad. Great on loud brass also.
