"Great for live sound, ok in the studio"

This is a good mic for micing kick drum live as it will take any SPL level a drummer (or a bass cabinet) can throw at it. The presence peak helps the "click" cut through a dense rock mix. It works the same way in the studio, but you begin to notice that it has a sound of its own, and not always a good one. I don't recommend micing both the bass and the kick drum with these, as they'll end up sounding an awful lot alike.

"Punchy and perfect"

It's fantastic live at large venues...outdoor festivals, arenas, large halls.
You can really push it.
Clearer that shure beta 52.
Have it as an internal with the May hook-up system. Inside a 16X22 Yamaha Birch custom Absolute.
