This microphone was developed for clean kick drum and bass guitar performance with a powerful, punchy sound.

Absolutely free of distortion even at high sound pressure levels, very low diaphragm resonance, a relatively narrow-band rising high frequency response at 4 kHz, and an extremely robust construction are the outstanding features of this microphone. zZounds is an authorized dealer of AKG products.

Sound: Well to other people not rating it highly is probably becuase your not putting it in a correct position. but i find i can acheive clear punchy and crispy bass drum soudns with easy. Represents low end very well and boost at 60hz or lower is a great filler for the bass drum. I use it a lot in live and studio use. Plus why do you think so many studios use it becuase they know what there doing with it. And if u use it with maybe a Shure SM57. So Kick mic in the bass drum centre height and width near the non hit skin and a SM57 over the top of the bass pointing down at the beater it should sound wicked. Phase inverting the D112 can help if phase occurs. Feature: Perfect nice clip and adaptor for different sized stands. Ease of Use: Can range to differnet sounds easy to big and boomy right to clear and crispy and punchy all about where you place it. Can lack top end but eq can re instate that. Quality: Hard, Strong tough its well made and made to last. Value: For next to nothing its great and as its a top quality dynamic mic what mor could u ask for. Manufacturer Support: AKG no idea. But i expect good service. The Wow Factor: Looks good is good end of. Overall: Easily 10 years. :P

"Better than the Beta."
Sound: I've done an A/B comparison with the D112 and the Beta52. The AKG won hands down. Both had the same amount of bass response. The AKG just had a little more attack without having to add EQ. Also the Beta sounded a little more honky (unwanted mids). With the AKG, I didn't have to add as much EQ to get a decent sound. Feature: It's a mic? Quality: German engineering is the best. Value: Don't know why it costs as much as it doesn. It only serves a few purposes. The Wow Factor: It's the best in its class. Overall: Can't find anything wrong with it.
