The Good: First and foremost, this is an incredible amp with great rich harmonics and gain. The So-so: The Overdrive channel is very noisy; you will need a Noise gate for sure. The Bad: The white front of the amp looks kind of cheap and at $3k it should be much better. The Ugly: The top of the amp had a white scratch on it and 3of the controls had ink on them from the document sheet the was stappled together and looked like it been through the wars. The Bottom line: While it is possible the amp was a demo and or used at some point, it sure looks like little care went into the packaging or checking that everything was correct. I think both Soldano and zZounds need to do a better job in in checking what is being shipped. I will keep the amp because it sounds the way I want but I am on the fence about buying it again because the lack the quality control in the shipment.

I bought this thinking that it was probably mostly hype and Id be returning it minus shipping per zZounds 45 day return policy. I can safely say Its not just hype. Ive been buying and selling amps for 21 years looking for the holy grail amp, I think ive found it. This thing absolutely sings with harmonics, depth and midrange growl. And the depth is like a 50 watt plus head it doesent sound anemic like most under 50 watt amps. Build quality is impeccable. I play classic 70s hard rock, blues rock, 80s metal/hair metal, 70s/80s punk, and this amp nails all that with unreal harmonics. One caveat with this amp, as other professional reviewers have pointed out this is a mid range amp, if you scoop your mids this is not the amp for you. This thing lives on the midrange and the tone is unreal glory for that. If your looking for the Nu-Metal sound, post Grunge, chug, Djent etc there are better amps for that.

"Good but not worth $2900"

I had to re review this to be honest. I bought a dent and scratch and ended up returning it as I'm moving to an apt and its just too loud for that to get what I want out of it. I still maintain it has great depth and midrange harmonics. But that said it is too shrill/bright on the high strings, notes. In that regard I was actually more impressed with the $750 dollar Mark Tremonti, which lacked those piercing highs I so personally dislike. I also just noticed these went up $200 dollars within the last 2 weeks, inflation as the corporate excuse I'm sure, not worth it when the 100 watt head is a little over 4k. Buy an EVH 100 watt for just under 2k, a much better value IMO. Or by the SLO 100 for about 1k more if you need the Soldano sound. If you can pick one of these 30 watters up for 2k max go for it but for sure try one first, I reviewed it too quick initially and found it had some brightness I dont personally care for.
