"Good If You Have Money to Upgrade the Garbage CPU and Motherboard"

Okay let me start off by saying, I found out about this computer on Rain's website and from all the talk about it from Rain it seemed like it was gonna be a good pc for Music Production, This is not the case at all..so I ordered, Shipping was fast and the packaging was very safe, The System as it comes Stock is Garbage, Don't get me wrong It is equipped with Good Quality parts but the specs of the motherboard and Processor is just a shame... A audio PC should not come with a 1.66CPU and also not one that is SOLDERED to the motherboard, since you cannot return Rain Computers to Rain nor zzounds for a refund i was stuck with this, but since i love PC's i was able to open it up figure it the form factor of the motherboard and just bought a Intel LGA1156 core i5 processor, and a Zotac h55 mini ITX motherboard, also when i ordered the pc i thought 4gb was way too little ram so i ordered some Corsair Vengeance 8GB RAM, that worked out great but it was no use since the cpu was slower than anything, All in all, this is a great pc once you switch out the motherboard and CPU, might seem like a waste of money since this pc is $700 plus the avg price to upgrade it was $425, thats $1125 total, but If you got it on the payment plan zzounds and American Musical are about the only place to get decent computers with out having to apply for a card.. Now this computer is Screaming fast, at 16 MIDI tracks being used with 4 different plugins the i5 is only using at most 13% of cpu use, with the stock cpu the sound was cracking and skipping and the cpu use was at 93% completely insane, So if i could go back i would of probably spared the extra money and gone with the Rain Ion Studio pc since the CPU on that one is much better than this one and can also be swapped out with a better one without having to buy an entire new motherboard, Anyways i love this pc now that ive added these upgrades, and it will probably last me a couple years before i get the Rain Ion or a better model by Rain

I have had this now for about a month and its good little PC however, like other reviewers I must agree that its way too loud. Much louder than any other PC or Laptop that I have owned, but its cheap enough that its not a deal breaker. I am using it via USB with a MOTU Audio Express and the performance is good. Considering the equivalent specs you could get at that price for a Dell or HP, I'm not sure if the performance is good enough to warrant spending $700.00. Its basically like paying $300.00 for Rain to tune a BIOS and Windows 7 for audio.

Rain has knocked it out of the park with the new Rain Mini-Event computer. I am using this little giant in our high school's live stage production and it has performed flawlessly. Plus, the students think it is great looking. We are running Sonar X1 and a number of soft synths, with 5 keyboardists - this things is great!
