Paiste 502 Bronze Hi-Hats (14 in.)

Well balanced overall sound with solid chick and a warm, musical, open-closed sound.

I think this cymbal will last a long time. I do have a bad history of turning them inside out by hitting them to hard though.
Sound
I was expecting a lower pitch, but I am satisfied with the overall sound quality.

Paiste 502 Bronze Hi-Hats (14 in.) Customer Review

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I give it 8 of 10, just beause they're such a great value. Sure, you're not getting signature line sound, but you're not even paying half that for these cymbals.
Sound
Very decent all around beginner cymbal. I got these 12 years ago with my first Pearl 5-piece, and learned a lot of different styles on them. Though not great for everything, a very versatile set to learn on. I played mostly rock, and they excelled - tough time controlling them in jazz settings (really took a lot of feel).
Ease of Use
Very thick and bash-able, these stood up to 12 years of me playing, including learning what to do/not do early on. Docked a little bit because of some overtones that make low-volume settings difficult to play (they don't show up behind Marshall stacks when you're rocking out, though!)
Quality
Thick & sturdy, machine lathed for consistency - I had no trouble matching a 16" cymbal that was stolen, and it sounded just like my old one.
Value
For as long as I've had them, and the places they've been, these are a fantastic value, especially for beginners.
The Wow Factor
Clunky logo and soulless machine lathe marks aren't the opitomy of cymbal beauty. But, who really cares???
