I bought the sp16 because akai was dragging their feet on the mpc live and x.
The machine is a breeze to work with up and running in 20 min. I make hip hop and r&b so I bought this to replace some older gear and make it my main workstation. Well. It's not quite there yet as a production station or Mabey it was never meant to be one, but for the price it is missing a lot of basic functions of a hardware sampler, you can do more on a
10 year old sampler like the mv 8800 that can be had for 500 bucks, and I own one.
But for dj's. It's great to just grab purchased samples loop em slap em together during your dj set it's great, the latest os made it even better, and they actually listen to requests on the pioneer forum. I predict with the next os update this thing will really be the beast we know it can be so I'm going to stick with it no returns no regrets. It is a joy to work on comming from sample editing by ear to the nice touch screen every thing is close by . Midi is so so. So far their working on it, 32 second sample limit not a deal breaker but should have more for the price.
Since the 80,s keys any and all grooveboxes.
