"Buy this! NOW! (...and the "blemished" one is a STEAL!!!)"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars

This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
I had a couple of low-wattage guitar heads (Valve Junior - which I still have - and the Jet City Picovalve). Neither of them was loud enough to keep up with my brother's habit of turning up his bass amp after every song. Not any more! And on the 7 watt setting, I can even practice at home without the wife yelling down the stairs that it's "too loud!"
Sound
There are a lot of reviews that complain about a lack of cleans. REALLY? (Look up how to use "gain" and "volume" knobs.) If you're looking for "amplified acoustic" clean you won't find it here, but for warm cleans that will get you to "growl" with a little pick attack or a nudge of the volume knob this is NIRVANA! And the multiple gain stages mean you can get downright NASTY with this beast. Played through a 2x12 stuffed with Eminence neo speakers (Tonkerlite and Lil' Texas) I get all the range of tones I could ever want.
Features
Effects loop, British-style tone stack (bass, mids, treble), multiple impedance speaker outs and the 15/7 watt switch all add up to an incredibly versatile package.
Ease of Use
Takes pedals extremely well. Dial in the clean tone you want, then stack your drive pedals in front of the amp. Put your modulation pedals in the tube-driven effects loop and voila!, you are making amazing tones fill whatever space you choose to grace with your dulcet tones!
Quality
Rock solid, built like a tank, completely portable and plays well with others (like my aforementioned 2x12 cab). This is an absolute keeper!
Value
Well, I bought a "scratch and dent" which had been returned and it showed up in perfect condition with all literature and the plushly padded carry bag for under $500. I've looked around plenty and have not seen anything that compares to this little box of magic at that price!
Manufacturer Support
Haven't needed to use Orange tech support but I'm not worried: their reputation is bullet proof.
The Wow Factor
Looks cool (though I'm not at all into Slipknot I have to say that Jim Root does have kick ass taste in amps and guitars). Surprises everyone at the "jam" when this little monster starts to growl! Ya...it has WOW coming out all over the place!

After the tubes warm up this amp head will either scream at you or rock you to sleep with miles of sustain and warmth. Get it and you wont be disappointed.
Sound
A British tube amp with updated sounds for most music types
Features
Every feature on this amp head is usable. No matter what style of music you play.
Ease of Use
Once you let the tubes warm up you can get almost any distorted or full sound you want. If you are going from solid state to tubes here there is a short learning curve as far as getting your perfect sound.
Quality
Built like a tank. And who doesn't like black and orange. This amp head will last forever.
Value
It is well worth the asking price. I would buy it again if they raised the price.
Manufacturer Support
Orange amps is easy to reach and they extend your warranty when you register it. Awesome service. They even responded within 48 hours of a preferred shop in my area for tube services.. A+

I wanted the amp to prove to me it could last. After all $699 aint change. 4 years later here i am with my jim root #4 and one big ass grin. Happy day!
