I'm writing this review after owning the head for a few months now. The OR50 is great, I run it through an Orange 1x12 for practice at home. I'm able to run the master volume between 9 and 1 o'clock at home because the single 12 inch speaker attenuates volume pretty well compared to a larger cabinet. The character of the amplifier, and this is very important, seems to come from the master volume and where it's set. If the master volume is set below 9 o'clock, the amp has a mean but less clean sound even if the gain is rolled back. I run my gain just above 12 o'clock and with my guitars volume I can go from clean to dirty easily provided the master volume is high enough. If I need more juice I'll click on my MXR micro boost. There are no features to this amplifier. It'll force to play guitar better too. Delays sound good through the front end too so the lack of an effects loop isn't a feature I miss. The HF drive is fantastic. Unlike most presence controls that can get harsh when set to high the HF drive just get's better the more you add to it. I like the Orange heads over the similarly priced Marshall heads for many reasons but one important reason is that I'm always tweaking stock Marshall style heads to get it to a sweet spot but the Orange amps seem to just sound good with the EQ set flat. This past weekend I got to finally hear the OR through a 4x12 Sound City cab loaded with Fanes and I can't get that sound of my head. It's really good and if lost or stolen I'd sell my car to afford another OR50. It's just that good.
