"Marshall 'mini' Jubilee"

This is the amp to have!! For me personally this is the exact sound I'm looking for! I have tried the original, the Slash version, the 2555x reissue and all have one problem...you can't turn them up to get 'the sound.' These amps are old school and require a voulme of at least 6 to unlock the juice! If you play live, this simply will not work in most clubs..you can try a power soak but to my ears, there is something non organic about that...let the ponies run, I say! Enter the solution: a 20/5 watt version. My thoughts are can the 5 watt mode and rock the 20! Now, finally the gigging musician's amp! The 20 watts is more than loud (you'll be very suprised) but not to the point where it is offending everyone including your soundman saying you're throwing off the mix. I have heard so many neg. things..i.e. "only 80's....ac-dc...etc." but that could NOT be more incorrect, these amps have a classic tone to be sure but very versitile. The sweetest part of this amp is the inherient "sound" but the fact that ALL the knobs have an incredible tone shaping ability...duh, but seriously, you will not find an amp like this one that has such an influence on tone with the stock EQ section! Also, at different volumes, the EQ will change...you may need to apply more-less, etc. and the relationship between controls is amazing how they can complement each other but you must be careful because they can also wreck each other. This can be frustrating at first but it shows the amp has it's own blood! You can get your own signature tone with some patience and trial. This amp will definatly stand out if the mix but I can say this: it is very picky about speakers...the cabs they pair them up with are vintage 30's in the 2x12-4x12 cabs and a G12m (greenback) in the combo. I personally experimented with MANY different speaker combinations and found a 4x12 loaded with 2 Vintage 30 and 2 G12m (diagonally) gives the best sonic bang for the buck! The effects loop is also a jem...quiet and smooth! Some will complian that you can't effectively use both channels as in: set up for crystal clean then distortion in real time at a gig....not totally true....but a fair complaint. This will depend on what YOUR taste is...This is how I set mine up....presence 4...bass 8....mid 6...treble 5...output master 6...lead master 4...input gain 6.....20 watt setting with 4x12 (2vintage 30...2green backs) I use a micro amp boost in the FX loop to push my solos. and the clean and dirty channels work just fine...I make sure the dirty channel has first dibbs on tone and the clean channel is satisfactory....if the clean is too hard to dial in, I'll A/B amps...sweet! I use a Gubson Les Paul and it's off to the races!!! Try it, you won't be dissapointed!!

"KILLER MARSHALL TONE!!!"
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
I have used many amps over the years. And never could get that sound that I was looking for. I've had fenders, orange, blackstar, and other marshalls. I had a jmp, jcm 800, jcm 900, dsl. They sounded good but something was still missing. I basically use every amp like it's a single channel amp. I've been looking at these 2525s for awhile now. So I finally got one. I am so happy with this amp. It sounds great!! I've tryed it with a few different cabs, and to me it sounds best with the 30 watt greenbacks. Don't be worried about this amp not being loud enough. Because we're a pretty loud band and it still has plenty to give. If you're looking for great marshall tone, BUY THIS AMP!!!

"mini monster tone "

It's been almost a year since I bought mine from zZounds and I realized I had wrote a review so listen up. If you want great sound straight out of the box that won't make your ears bleed then keep reading. This is loud enough for a gig unless you have a crazed drummer. Take a look at the power tubes... EL34's. Not the usual EL84's. You get the same tone out of this as you would a full size jubilee. I can speak these words because I also have a original, unmodded 1987 silver jubilee model 2558 and my ears hear the same magic. This has a very usable eq. You will be pleasantly surprised if you take the time tweaking different sounds. Cathode biased so no need for biasing. Like a mesa boogie. You can experiment if you want with different power tubes EL34, KT 77, KT88..etc. Check out the Marshall forum for more info. A great little monster to try out different tubes in. NOS RCA's in the preamp and EL34B's in for power tubes. The original ones are fine but like everyone I love to tinker with mine. A solid buy with no buyer's remorse.

"silver junilee"
the prices are insane on these and are not worth it, maybe if they were hand wired an about 300.00 less, i also had a 2550 amp head back about 20 years ago, distortion was great an clean just sucked..i have had every fender,an marshall plexi and am 65 an playing thru a nice small vs15r valvestate thats perfect an old....too dam much money for the silver jubilees, just like american strats an classic vibe 50,s are as good or better,i have had them all...................now i have a classic 50,s edition, pretty nice, but hums on every position,an hard to get my huge hands to play it,but is beautiful daphne blue.neck adjustment is in the heel, what is fender thinking..sounds very nice anyway, but is for sale...its hard to bbeat big frets an pickups that make no noise,an neck position where its posed to be, but it still sounds good,an about the most beautiful guitar, but i like white a little bettter.....i wish i woulda kept some of my things from around 2010 an earlier, when reissue 1987 plexis were way under 1000.0 etc..reissue...
