i have found my solstice and won't need to play with any other manufactuer. i wouldn't be able to get the same performance for a price any less, and i wouldn't pay anymore to test a different product
Sound
you get what you pay for, and when you pay for the solstice you get that and more! i have used the solstice for my upright bass to split frequency of a stereo wired pick up. i get the best range of tone i've ever had! and with a blended xlr output, i have the freedom of plaing gigs without lugging around heavy amplifiers!!!
Features
there are accessories available however not included. it is pretty difficult to locate an ac adapter if you loose the one supplied.
Ease of Use
lots of functions on the solstice when using with an amplifier (used as a pre-amp)it can be difficult to find your tone.
Quality
i've dropped it, it's been chipped and still works like new! finding replacement parts can be difficult.
Value
it is worth the price! i've used other makers' similar products, and there is no comparison!
Manufacturer Support
there aren't many vendors, and reaching dtar isn't easy unless you live in santa barbara.
The Wow Factor
looks great if you plan on placing it next to an old 70's model cabinet stereo

"Great product! Poor customer service."

Sound
Killer sound! I've sold a number of these by players asking me how I get my tone. I play a 1970 Martin D18,1994 Gibson J45, and a Triggs T45 all with a fishman piezo and a Sunrise blended by the Solstice. If you are tired of harsh tone from piezo pickups and/or need a little more control over feedback, this is by far the best product out there. Although, in my experience, it is practically impossible to get any correspondence from D-TAR. I've emailed about different issues and not a word back...
