"Well Done..."

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars

This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
I think this amp and I will be the best of friends for years to come.Should this amp ever die on me or wear out, I'll just replace it with the same exact model, that's why I'm stocking up now, just in case this becomes one of those "discontinued" products! If you've never played through one of these, you owe it to yourself, your future children, your future fans, the record companies, and your pet turtle to check one of these out A.S.A.P.! Before Bugera gets smart and changes their minds...starts charging and arm & a leg for one!...besides what've you got to lose?...
Sound
If you've ever wished to be able to play through a piece of rock history, but were unable to afford the iconic amps of yesteryear, then THIS is the amp for you. It's got the vibe, the sound, the demeanor of some relic, that's been discovered sitting in some guy's closet, and the sound is UNBELIEVABLE! It does it all. perfect cleans, dirty drive, roaring rock you name it....it's in here! I play mostly Hendirx-inspired blues, and this amp has never let me down. I push it through a 2x12 cab and I'm in blues/rock HEAVEN! I've also used it live, and in the studio, and on ALL fronts this thing is amazing!
Features
In regards to the features, there's not a lot of "fluff" to get in the way of your tone, which is the BEST feature of all! I've played through all kinds of amps, from the temperamental vintage pieces, which only work when they want, to the hi-tech, digitally re-created wunder-amps of the day, and I can't tell you how nice it is to just plugin to an amp and not have to worry about menus, disabling effects, and trying ot figure out the switching! It's like Bugera (Behringer in truth!) has gotten inside the head of every tone purist and pulled out all the best ideas!
Ease of Use
It's so easy...a Caveman could do it!...LoL! There's nothing complicated about this amp! If you've ever used an amplifier before, or held a guitar, then you should be able to work this one no problem!
Quality
I don't understand...I think I may have to do some research about this company and their products, for it seems they've gotten ahold of the best names in the industry of the amplifier world and are holding them hostage, if you blindfolded someone and had them grab hold of this amp, they'd think they were toting an Egnater, or Laney around...boy would THEY be surprised when the blindfold came off!
Value
Put it this way, I am already in the process of ordering TWO more, just in case, I would go nuts if I lost or had this amp stolen, that's why it sleeps right next to me on the nightstand near my bed! It's just awesome that Bugera can make THIS good of an amp for the PRICE it's going for!
Manufacturer Support
I'm going off of assumption here since I've never had to call them on anything...but if they're support is anywhere near as good as their product, then they've gotten the magic combination of running a great business in a very competitive industry.
The Wow Factor
The sexiness of this amp lies in it's understated beauty, those lines of white piping alongside the black covering, then there's the machined aluminum face, and the chicken head knobs....his amp just OOZES vintage British vibe.

"Heads that give "Heads-Up"...to musicians whom love Vintage Sounds!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
Will keep her till th end of her days!! Had been looking for these old Vintage type of heads and presto: Bugera comes out with them!! And is affordable, for me. Almost bought a 2-3 channel head some years back, which I am glad I did not purchase!! The Bugeras brought it for me...back to the Basics...the Purity of playing on such Grandeur heads which the rock and pop music was built on! Nothing can beat that!! If they were stolen, I would surely purchase the same setup, again, if possible, without doubt!
Sound
The head is GREAT! And, for the price....WOWWW!!! I started off putting my stompbox in the input; tried both, High and Low. With a start. When inserted in High, you get a Satriani/Blackmore sound and when inserted in the Low, you get a deep startocaster Hendrix type of sound: Superb! But, my (self built 1993; similar to Cornish) stompbox is inserted into the EX-loop, though, for best results! Which makes it mush more easy to equalize! Can set it much 'finer' than when the box goes through the Direct input! Which sounds much 'course or hard'; not hard in sound, but hard in frequency, so-to-speak. Just bothers the/my ears. Did not sound right. With the Bugera cabinet, you can hear very much - Depth -; 12x4 is here at her best. My echo sounds much more - Perspective - and Deep; in a Mono/stereo way! Usually, you just hear echo...and that's it, but with this head and cabinet: your Ears hear ALL THE SOUND, which is processed into her! And she does not discriminate what she is fed; processes it all to her best abilities! I use a Selector, to switch to the High and Low. Depending on what kind of sound I want to incorporate it, into. In the begin 70ties, I used the High and Low for switching to Lead/High and Normal/Low; when there were not good Boost pedals around, in those days and done on a replica of Marshall: London City/Power City(Dutch fabrications). Thus: my advice would be to utilize BOTH inputs, in such way as I do!? It is almost like playing a 2 channel head, but only both on the same settings, which for me...it no problem. The guitarist, is the one that makes it sound better, not? His contribution, while playing.
Features
For me, this head is The Cherry on top! What is told about her....she produces! Very nostalgic for me. Old times surfacing!! Such a Simple head which delivers VERY MUCH in Sound and Craftsmanship, etc., which does not have to bend down to most of the expensive heads around, because: She Delivers!!!
Ease of Use
From having much experience from this type of head, for me...she is easy to use. And I mentioned above: she is Simple and the rest the musician has to do, with his EARS...and guitar playing! Just: Plug And Play!!!
Quality
She is just BEAUTIFUL!!! Had seen her on the net, here...and others..BUT...when I saw her...I had to have her!!! I did not even try her out!! I just purchased her online, and picked her up, loaded in, went home and then...hooked her up and: BAM!!! It was Love/Sound at first sight/hear! The Bugera company did an excellent job on all the specs of the head. Have not seen and heard such one since the beginning of the 70ties! Everybody knows Marshall, but the replicas were just as good. And this one made by the Bugera Company...is on the SAME level of Marshall or any other, I have to say. And is affordable...for the small wallet! But still gives a Great Value Of SOUND, back, worth every penny. She can take any beating on the road, I would say! But, I made a heads flight case for her, so she is comfortable. Even without the case...she can make it through life!!
Value
Well, the price in the country I live (Europe) I even got 10% off on each stack because, I purchased 2 of their half stacks: 1960 and the 1990. It was for me...Worth buying!!! So, compared to others...: She was well and worth invested! Every penny Worth It!!!
Manufacturer Support
Have emailed the company a couple of times, and they are very quick! Have had no difficulties so...there was no need for assistance.
The Wow Factor
"Love at first...sight!!" Simple...but....Beautiful!!

"The Best Single Channel Tube Amplifier Built Today!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Purchaser zZounds has verified that this reviewer purchased this specific product from us.
This amp totally satisfies my search for a single channel tube power amp to drive my X3 Live. I can tell you this, it blows away Marshll, Vox, Orange, and any other single channel tube power amp.
Sound
Wow, this amp just oozes pristine clean with its EL34s. Its very responsive as I use an X3 Live, and the tones are totally orgasmic. Bugera has a winnner on their hands. I've used it in jams, one live show, and one recording session with the matching 4X12 Bugera cabinet. In a word: superb!
Features
Simplicity at its best! Old school EQ, twin channel volume that you can blend with a jumper cable. The build quality is outstanding much like when they used to build amps back in the day. Be still my heart! The controls are silky smooth: badass!
Ease of Use
Tweaking is a breeze and you can dial in whatever tone you want! Easy to use! This amp is totally righteous with effects both in front or through the loop.
Quality
Simply magnificent! When I took the 1960 out of its box, I was totally blown away at the build quality. I mean I just wasn't really expecting this, I thought it might be some cheesy plastic amp. But, Bugera has produced a beautiful piece all by hand!
Value
Its price is like winning the lottery! Guitarists who need a single channel tube amp need this unit. An unbeatable killer value! Kudos to ZZOUNDS for bringing us the Bugera line!
Manufacturer Support
I've spoken to Bugera at their Behringer office, and they are ready and able to help with whatever their customers need! In short, outstanding support! If the amp pops, they can and will send a replacement amp! How cool is that! You won't see Marshall doing that!
The Wow Factor
Oh man, talk about sex appeal, the 1960 just oozes sex appeal. Its silver and black totally rocks. Its silver piping is just over the top. I almost don't want to play it, and just have it in its own alter! Behringer engineers really kicked ass on this design going back to old school principles. The tubes are just lovely, the chasis design is superb.

"The amazing and versitile bugera 1960"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
I am very happy with the 1960. I will probably buy a 6262 bugera next just so I can get a good metal sound without the metal muff. But I will keep it because it does so much more than any other amp out there. Its like the wolf in sheeps clothing the metal guys will never see you coming with this one. I may just buy another for a back up.
Sound
The sound is very versitile. When you jump the channels you can get a fender twin reverb to a peavey 6505+ tone. It all depends on what pedal you run through it. I run a metal muff through mine to get a death metal sound. It is very loud I bought something called the volume box from buy.com. it plugs into the effects loop and works as a master volume a $20 dollar cost. You can buy a behringer od400 if your looking for more classic rock sounds $24 bucks.
Features
150 watts it is loud. I put it on 2 or 3 and can drown my drummer. Its got a effects loop. The amps eq is not as responsive as one would like but if you run a pedal into it your pedals equal will be more noticeable and work better than you can imagine with this amp. The real tone control comes from blending the high and low channels. This amp has tons of headroom. Add a metal muff and you'll forget all about a 6505+ and a mesa trial rec. The main reason, you just can't beat this amps clean sounds and versatility. It sounds great now I can't wait to hear it with some new tubes. I bought a bias probe and a multi meter from eurotubes for $35 bucks to swap the el34 tubes with 6ca7 or kt77 tubes for tighter bass and a slightly scooped mid and more head room not that you need to.
Ease of Use
Its very easy to get good sounds. Id recommend getting the matching cab. I can't explain it but with my metal muff I get this tube sag death metal sound. I don't know if its the amp or the cab or my metal muff but its a sound I've never got from any other amp and just sounds very metal sounding and something I've never even heard it from mesa or peavey amps. Another thing you'll like is the fact you can here your pick attack clear as day with any sound you set the amp to. Very Dave mustaine sounding which explains why he use to use marshall super leads the amp the 1960 is based upon.
Quality
Quility built. Bugera worked out all their reliability issues in summer of 2009. If you do have the famous molex connecter problem you can buy the part for. 75 cents from radio shack or nuwark.com I've had mine for awhile and crank it up and have no problems. I've also heard they bias them wrong from the factory and it makes the tubes burn out fast. That why I bought the probe. Besides I don't care what brand of amp you buy all the factory tubes are junk.
Value
What better value than 450 bucks .make the payments and get the matching cab. It takes pedals well and is much better than a line6 150 or a valveking which I've owned. The valveking doesn't take pedals well unless its a overdrive. And line6 amps don't sound good at metal concert levels and don't get that tube clipping real metal sound but they are great practice amps or rot some recording applications. The valve king is great for blues to thrash with a overdrive just won't do death metal unless you take the back off your cabinet and you still won't get the volume level with out it bottoming out. The 6505+ clean channels are horrible and mesa boogies are over priced . You can buy 4 or more bugera 6262 amps for their price.
Manufacturer Support
Bugera is a great company .I have sent them emails and occarionally they will return them. If its important or if you have a problem I have heard they fix the problems within a week. Like I said they have had their problems but are now very reliable. They have a lot of haters because they are low priced and sound great. People call them clones marshall cloned fender peavey cloned soldano. I don't need to go in depth into this there's enough info on the net to back me up do the research for yourself. Bottom line this is probably one of the best amps ever made and your only missing out if you don't play one or buy one if your a jazz guy you'll love the cleans. If your blues buy a behringer to800. If your rock buy a behringer od400. And if your metal buy a metal muff just stay off the top boost. This amp does it all and more.
The Wow Factor
It looks great very vintage down to the chicken head knobs.

Ease of Use
Very simple to use and enjoy the expected loud tones,,,even with running just two of the Tubes at half power,,"Bugera Support" stated the Bugera 1960 will run on two Tubes...its still the cutting edge enjoyable loud.Bias setting is simple on this Amplifier this Amp Head Bias Test Probe works easy. "http://www.amp-head.com/product_info.php?cPath=21&products_id=30" will do it safe and quickly "Bias Tester (mV) Version [BTP2002(mv)] at $29.99..Learning to use is simple and quick manual clear stated what was important clearly....I use the Bugera 1960 with a Squier HSS Bullet Strat Writing tunes for my youtube channel Pigmydmm Bugera/Behringer Products make Fender/Squier guitars sound very good sweet and awesome Fenders sound terrific.

"Almost perfect Marshall SLP clone."

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I'll wear mine out and/or modify it to suit. Really only thing "wrong" with this Bugera out the box is weak connectors that attach wire to circuit boards. Assuming everything works to begin with, a drop of hot melt glue could secure those.
Sound
This is a tube for tube (UK vs Chinese) clone of 1959 Marshall Super Lead Plexi. Or rather cloned of a later re-issue, with added external FX loop. I bought mine elsewhere, as-is, in newish but non working condition (stuck at full volume, no knobs doing anything). Correctly guessed that a ground had come loose from the knob PCB. Was a 5min fix. This is ALL TUBE. No solid state, except blue LED panel light, solid state rectifier diodes, and one opamp in the FX loop completely bypassed by switch. All the tubes are captive in place by springs, and preamp tubes are completely covered by individual shields. Nothing tube or transformerwize is going to fall out or come loose. But inside: Wires that interconnect boards are short, poorly routed, and have very cheap connectors. Wire might come loose like mine did, but also very easy to fix. Bias test point and pot are made easily accessible. Vague bias instructions at Bugera website proved almost useless. Bias chart refers to a grade letter not marked on genuine Bugera tube anyways? Research Super Lead Plexi for better details and schematics. The iron is heavy, and power xfrm is fully copper strapped. End bells are chromed, seems very nice workmanship of the transformers. It does not present pretty clean sounds at lower volumes. Lots of gassy China grade tube hiss. But the fully saturated Pentode sound rocks! Just plan abusing at volumes above 7, not in your apartment. You can daisy chain both inputs together (input 1 tone is wider bandwidth than input 2), and use the two volume knobs to blend a custom tone. Same old trick as with Marshall SLP.
Features
I got mine as-is, no accessories.
Ease of Use
Has only one good sound, cranked all the way up... OK, maybe mixing Volume 1 and Volume 2 gives some range of tones? Effect of dedicated tone controls seems way too subtle.
Quality
I was actually impressed with fit and finish. Would never have bought non-working if I hadn't thought it was a great starter for a custom job. Everything inside is made to be easily serviced and hopefully last forever.
Value
Nothing this cheap is ever good, except this time seems to be the exception! Not perfect SLP clone, but darn close...
Manufacturer Support
Bugera offers user manual and useless bias instructions. No publicly available Bugera schematics for model 1960. Research Marshall 1959 SLP for complete technical info.
The Wow Factor
If you want Marshall SLP and can't afford one, here it is...

"No Bias review..."

Overall: 3.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Purchaser zZounds has verified that this reviewer purchased this specific product from us.
Sound
First off, I start by saying I don't have any experience to compare it to a real plexi. That said, I do have a lot of high end gear and didn't buy it cause of being forced into a certain price category and am not a Bugera supporter or hater. I truly wanted to see what Bugera was offering at such an attractive price point. Overall, you can't find anything that competes in this price range...Big head (dwarfs my Marshall DSL100), fairly attractive, well packaged, doesn't feel cheap. Good fit and finish. I expected it to be loud..but easily the loudest amp I've ever played. Even if you don't have to worry about neighbors, and I don't, you can't dime this thing with out your ears being in pain...and believe me I like it loud normally. Understand why they're having to re-release it with a master volume...a necessity I will have to invest in after the fact. Next critical point...lacking bass...maybe thats a characteristic of plexi circuit, however further research indicates caps and transformer maybe the culprits on this model (even Randy Roads used an EQ on his plexi). This amp has great potential if you have pedals (eq a must for additional bass) and time to spend with it. If you plan on trying to use the amp break up you will need additional investment(ppimv install, attenuator, etc.)...or wait for the new version. Unfortunately investments that will eat up the money saved on the price I paid. That said its hard to find myself to critical of this amp cause of what I paid for it. Great headroom and response. Currently I find it best for modern country with a tele and pedals. But to make it clear...you will not find classic EVH..AC/DC...and definitely not metal out of the box without further tools or mods...I wasn't expecting these anyhow, but just wanted to make this clear for others.
Features
Standard plexi options..plus efx loop...didn't expect more based on what it is....
Ease of Use
This amp needs lots of tweaking..unless your not picky...but once again plexies probably do to.
Quality
so far so good...even though Bugera has a bad rep. I have a friend whos a good tech..so I can be pretty fearless.
Value
Simply put...a lot of bang for the buck and there's nothing in its price range to compare to other than other Bugera models...but it is a simple plexie design and very loud...and could use more bass response. For those budget conscious...you might wait for the new Bugeras to come out to get some necessary mods built in, or choose a different Bugera if you want more versatility.
Manufacturer Support
dont know...
The Wow Factor
Nice looking amp for the most part...big though.

"BUGERA WHO!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
This amp head and I will have a long career together!
Sound
Wow this amp rocks, im told that bugera is a company of behringer, now they have awesome tube amps to go with there power amps. This thing sounds great. i've tried solid state half stacks, tube 212 combo amps, solid state 212 amps, this thing rocks. low end is nice has a great sound to it, high input is on fire, dial in your tones with the vintage knobs, put some distortion to it and let all hell break loose, they have a winner here. tube head for under 500 that sound this good. unbelievable.
Features
Bugera has it going on 150 watts into 16 8 or 4 ohms, effects loop, cool vintage knobs, solid construction, cool blue light instead of that red, two high gain inputs and two low gain inputs, two volume knobs for high gain and low gain, you can jump connections and use both high and low inputs together, how cool is that. two output jacks for two cabs and it does fine on two cabs. three tone knobs
Ease of Use
very easy to use, match up wattage for cab, plug and play
Quality
this thing is a tank, i think it weights close to 50-75 lbs. very sturdy, not sure of the inner components. power and standby switches seem solid, knobs feel very sturdy. short of throwing it on the floor it will take some abuse.
Value
i bought the blemished one because i'm poor. The new ones cost under 500 for an all tube amp that's 150 watts, what more could you ask for. Don't be shy it's well worth the money.
Manufacturer Support
never used it first amp from bugera but i understand they are part of behringer so it should be top notch support
The Wow Factor
This is one great looking amp, you will have tons of musicians comment on the looks of this beast. They did a great job with this series.
