I had done some research online listening to how this amp sounds. Unfortunately, I couldn't find it anywhere to try one out so i took a chance and ordered it anyway. I was impressed with how easy it was to program on it's own, but throwing in the Insider software made it even easier! The tones that come out of this head are truly amazing. Well done, Blackstar!

I wanted to like this amp. I wanted to love it. But it is on its way back to zZounds for a number of different reasons. First, almost immediately after receiving the amp, I was underwhelmed by the tone. No matter how much I messed with it or tweaked it, it sounded thin and lacked any low end. It was literally like someone was running a high pass filter across it. For the style of music I play, I need that low end and it just wasn’t there. I tried some different pedals and different configurations but could never get what I wanted out of it. The nail in the coffin was when the amp cut out on me in the middle of a gig. I was running the volume at about 30-35% on OD 2 and it just cut out. If I knocked the volume down to below 15% or so, it would register my playing only very quiet. If I took it above that 15% threshold the volume cut completely and then there was a faint clicking that would hit every 2-3 seconds. Even if I cycled the power this issue would persist. It was only after shutting it down for 20 minutes or so that it came back to life. I can’t have a piece of gear cutting out on me in the middle of a show. This does not appear to be a common problem, but the lack of a low end with this line of amps is mentioned a handful of times in the Blackstar forums.
