"Superb playability but build quality has let it down."

I have had this guitar for a good few years. Owned since about 2004. made in Nashville 2002. Its the original Angus SG in heritage cherry and engraved Lyre. Bad points are; The binding looked a little uneven where it was hand filed, I could see the file marks on the binding between the frets. The Nitrocelluose around the "Gibson" inlay on the head stock started to lift and where the tuning heads are which was disappointing. The Nickle plating on the Pickups has dulled which is a shame. The spring on the bridge adjust screws rattles a little at particular resonances, I had to bend it a bit and I shouldn't have had to. I do not like the Lyre as it was a little loose and also rattled, one of the screws fell out and is lost. The tone and volume knobs have a silver disc on the top which has fallen off and got lost on two of them. the worst thing has been the fret wear, I think I'm going to have to get then replaced and not just stoned. Well that sounds pretty bad and that is why I marked the quality down. Really should have been better from Gibson. I'm getting it all fixed though. The Good points are, the shape and feel of the guitar is fantastic, you feel like you could play at the speed of sound, it really is awesome. Although I don't like the Lyre, it does add to the sound especially when combined with the thin stemmed bridge posts. this guitar sings, It feels like it has a pent up energy like a Mandolin or Violin. I do not trust the Wammy bar build quality and have taken the handle read more off. the guitar does stay in tune. The neck is very slim. The bridge is of good quality and I have had no problems with it at all. Guitar fits the case well and the best bit for me is that new smell that it has even years later. Looking forward to fixing the frets and rattles so I can start playing it again, I'm hoping the guitar tech I am going to contact can sort out all the issues. If I had to get a replacement I think I would not go for one of these but rather the Gibson SG Standard NB. The quality vs price is much better. Overall poor quality for the price on the original Angus Signature SG but otherwise a superb instrument. If paying so much money you would expect the quality to be faultless, even on the case. (case lining is falling away from the sides.) this guitar has been treated with extreme care and never gigged, it just kinda started having the trimmings falling apart.

Musical Background:
At home and with mates. Also acoustic and mandolin.

Musical Style:
Blues Rock Folk. Think AC/DC and Zeppelin
