Other features include a 4-color wood rosette, tortoise binding on the top of the body and a light satin finish. This low-priced instrument is a prime example of everything that made Tacoma the hottest acoustic guitar line in over 25 years. Includes a Deluxe Tacoma Hardshell Case.

The Tacoma Guitars "VS" bracing is a radical advance over traditional acoustic guitar bracing. We haven't "adjusted" a design from the 1930's, we've applied sixty years of learning. Tacoma Guitars braces are triangular in shape because they have equal strength to a rounded brace with less mass. Lower mass allows the top to vibrate more freely, and increases the guitar's response.

Tacoma's "Tone Shaped" bridge is wide and flat on the bass side, and narrow and peaked on the treble side. A Luthier's rule of thumb is that low, wide braces are best for bass frequencies, and tall, thin braces are best for treble frequencies. They've applied this thinking to their bridge and it works.

The solid Maple bridge plate is asymmetrical, and placed diagonally to enhance the dispersion patterns of our bridge design. Tacoma's matched bridge and bridge plate configuration balances the bass and treble remarkably, read more and produces sustain unmatched by any other system. read less

Sound
I played several 12 strings including ones in the 2k range. This particular instrument produces deep bass tones and vibrant trebles that blend into a rich harmonious sound. The expensive guitars were perhaps separated only by the materials used and the handmade quality. In examining the slots where the 12 strings rest on the bridge I did notice varying degrees of distance between matched strings. This was surprising because the overall workmanship displays attention and to detail. Particularly the grain matches in the woods used. I had to take it back to my dealer in Cavecreek,Az. for some fine tuning to fit my style of playing. While the owner personally worked on my guitar, I picked up 2 of the high end 12 string guitars again and played them. I left the store again with my Tacoma DM912 feeling extremely confident about the instrument and very pleased with my choice.
