"I own one and just love the intuitness of the buttons and menu's."

I think it is the most intuitive brand of all-in-one multitrackers out there. I find the entire VS line both easy to use and very powerful. Within 20 minutes I was able to get into menu's and buttons and learned quickly how to tweak and master the tracks that were recorded. i was even able to tweak the EQ, pan and track levels and effects right away and then save the master audio mix settings. All without even cracking open the manual. Of course most deeper functions and features must be learned through reading the manual. The VS1824CD is logically laid out and the menu system is very intuitive. And one of the most powerful of the multitrackers out there. Although there are new VS models out now for awhile, this one is a bit more portable than their big brother models. I would suggest learning on this or even the VS1680 and 1880 models too. Which are almost identical. The only drawback this era of the Roland VS line is no USB connector or wave format transfers to a computer, however you can transfer VS files through Reaper DAW software and have Reaper convert them into wave files. And or use a SCSI drive on a computer to transfer the audio tracks into a computer. But if yoou want to maintane the VS master stereo mix and VS effects sound, just send it through the VS stereo digital output to a DAT or computer DAW. Or send the individual tracks with effects or not through the analog outputs, analog outs sound good enough. To me the sound quality is very good, the only thing read more people complain about are the XLR mic preamps levels supposively being weak, but they really are not, I have personally heard good dynamic vocals recorded on this and without noise. With most other brands of multitirackers, I find them confusing and unusable until you spend hours with their manual and even still the function menu's and buttons are still clunky and awkward in their setup and use. Although the Fostex VF line is almost as easy to use as the Roland VS line here. The Korg line seems to be the most confusing to me. The Roland VS1824CD is very capable of producing commercial CD quality albums in this all-in-one easy to use but very powerful multitrack recorder and CD burner.
