zZounds Gear Experts Say...
Mahogany neck, gold Grover open gear tuners and rosewood bridge and fingerboard. Unique Spalted Mango finish. Concert style body with EW cutaway.

The Ukulele, an instrument just as rich in a peculiar tone and sound as it is in tradition and culture. Originating in the Hawaiian Islands, the 'Uke,' (what some people like to call this instrument) brings a unique sound palette to anyone who plays it. The designers and luthiers at Ibanez decided it was time to put their 'anything but traditional' stamp on this 'traditional' instrument. They've created the UEW20SG. It features a Concert Style body with an EW Cut-away design for upper fret access. The body is constructed with Spalted-Mango wood, features an abalone rosette, Gold-Grover Open gear tuners for accurate and precise tuning, and includes a Padded Gig bag. Natural High Gloss finish. You can hear the waves crashing on Waikiki beach right now if you listen carefully...

I can't imagine wanting to replace this instrument with a 'better' ukulele. I might at some point, want to expand my collection of ukuleles...with different exotic, native woods...but I don't see anything on the horizon.

    Sound
I haven't had a chance to play it at any length, however, the tone is bright and loud...unlike what had been hinted in a few reviews. I was prepared to settle for a less-than-impressive sound because it was such a beautiful instrument...but I sounds better than my Koa Ukulele.

    Features
The gig bag is the main 'feature'. It is adequate. In all likelihood, I'll be displaying the ukulele on my wall...without the gig bag, of course.

    Ease of Use
The ukulele is a very easy to play instrument. I didn't notice anything that made it easier, or harder, to play than any other ukulele.

    Quality
Only time will tell. It appears to be made with great attention to detail...and arrived in flawless condition. If 'beauty' fits into this category, then let me say this is an amazingly lovely instrument. Spalted woods can vary greatly in pattern and appearance. I was concerned that the picture in the ad (not the actual ukulele I would get) would be a best-case outcome, and that my ukulele would look nothing like it. My ukulele IS different of course, but just as attractive. As a wood collector, I couldn't be happier.
