Overview
The Ibanez S series first appeared in 1987. Ever since, it has changed in appearance and function to represent the cutting edge of Ibanez design. Famous for its lightweight carved mahogany body, the S can take a beating while still providing the resonance of guitars twice its size. The S series also comes equipped with the ZR tremolo system, a smooth ball bearing tremolo that makes every subtle nuance of whammy bar use come alive. The Ibanez S420 is a no-nonsense six-string with a pair of humbuckers for plenty of bite.
Features
- The original and famous Ibanez S body
- Heavy mahogany tone without the heavy mahogany weight
- 24-fret Wizard II necks
- ZR Zero Resistance trem with ball bearings offers smooth and stable arming
ZR Tremolo
Zero Resistance technology, yet another Ibanez tremolo improvement, replaces standard knife-edge pivots with a ball-bearing based pivot joint, which provides greater tuning stability.
The ZR tremolo uses a ball-bearing based system for precision and friction-free smooth action.
This unique system stabilizes the bridge and insures tuning stability by consistently returning the tremolo to the center point (or zero point). In addition to the usual tremolo springs, the Zero Point System features two additional springs which insures the bridge's return to the center point.
The Zero Point system adjustment can be quickly set by hand-there's no need for a hex wrench.

"Incredible guitar for the price!"

I was very surprised by the quality of this guitar right out of the box. Smooth fast neck and ridiculously lightweight. I can play this thing all night. It has a very warm feel and clean sound. The pickups are fine and for the price, you are really getting one heck of a guitar. I can't say enough about the ZR2 tremolo. I've only used Floyds and this easily puts them to shame. I'm an Ibanez fan for life!
