zZounds Gear Experts Say...
A recreation of the original 1960 Les Paul Standard, this guitar features a single cutaway design, maple top, and Washed Cherry Sunburst finish.

In 1960 the Les Paul Standard still had the flame maple top, sunburst finish, and "Patent Applied For" pickups of its predecessors, but a slim taper neck was added for a decidedly different feel. These final adjustments failed to save the Standard, however, and after 1960 the single cutaway Les Paul was replaced by the thin bodied, double cutaway SG.

The Greatest Vintage Guitars Ever Made... Today
The Gibson Custom Shop proudly introduces the Vintage Original Spec series of historic solidbody guitars. From the 1957 Les Paul Junior to the 1960 Les Paul Standard, the Custom Shop debuts 17 reissue models representing the next step in their journey toward recreating the finest guitars ever made.

Vintage Finish
Aged to perfection, Gibson VOS (Vintage Original Specs) guitars undergo an "aging process" for an oxidized finish and all the dings and scratches you would expect from a well-worn guitar. VOS series guitars look and feel like a 50-year-old guitar should.

Gibson 1960 Les Paul VOS Customer Review

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
It is simply the best Les Paul you can buy for the money. every guitar is different but I must say that if it was stolen I would be very sad . I would immediately go out and try to find a 1960 re issue to replace it. When I bought this guitar I had no idea how nice it really was going to be my hat is off to the boys and girls at Gibson what a winner.

Sound
I have three Paul's 56 gold top, a standard les paul and this new reissued 1960 les paul. this is a great great guitar I love the way it plays, the sound is amazing I didn't think there would be that much of a difference but there really is you put this les paul in front of a tube amp and will make the tubes sing. It has a feeling of confidence , very responsive to all the different styles. In the studio it will make your lead sit right on top huge sound
