"I love my cracked Gibson Es137cu"
This guitar is expected to be played for two generations in my family. That is why i took my son with me to purchase it. I wanted him to like the guitar equally well as he will inherit it when i'm gone.I doubt very much that we will be able to wear it out..After all, it's a Gibson beautiful and tough, in my opinion.
Sound
Sound is great and fits my music and style with no. 12 flatwound strings on it. I don't play lead too much so bending the strings is not a factor. I play it thru a Danecho Danelectro device then into a Peavey Bandit 112. All the guys in our jam group love the sound.
Features
I wont be using the veritone switch as i play old country music but my 34 year old son does when he plays it. .And eventually he will end up with the guitar.
Ease of Use
It plays fine now that it has been been set up by a non factory professional. Playability was not that great out of the box.
Quality
It is well made and beautiful to look at. But things happen and my guitar has a crack in the side in the cutaway area. It is at the Factory in Memphis as this is written for disposition. I'm hoping they will send me a new one in leiu of a repair.
Value
This is the perfect guitar for me and well worth the price. I prefer it to the ES 335 which is higher priced.
Manufacturer Support
The factory was easy to… read more reach and returned my email w/i 24 hours. But better yet was the Store of which i purchased it. They sent my guitar back to the factory for me and loaned me a NEW Gibson 335 to use while the es137 was at the factory. How the factory responds to the crack issue is yet to be determined...
The Wow Factor
Every player that has come in contact with my ES137cu triburst has marveled over it's color and overall appeal, and they never refused when i asked them if they would like to try it out....All the secondary opinions were very favorable.
Musical Background:
Hobbiest- Play every week with a bunch of old guys that used to play bars ect.
Musical Style:
Old time country and 50's pop songs. play rythem and a little lead. read less
