Let me preface this by saying I've played the American version and owned the Player series tele, so I was apprehensive to purchase this guitar, BUT I really liked the price point, and the fact that it has th4 humbucker and more simplistic controls. I lead worship for my church and wanted a versatile guitar that covers a lot of ground without a complicated dual wire setup that would play well with either an acoustic preamp pedal or a multi-effects unit like my PodGo. This guitar is a total homerun. There is no tone knob as one is the volume and the other is a blend knob to move between the electric and acoustic pickups. I shape my sound either at the soundboard or through my pedals. This is PERFECT for worship leaders or guitarists needing to cover a lot of bases without switching instruments all the time. The fit and finish (I have the Honey Burst model) are fantastic. The NECK feels absolutely amazing. Not a single flaw on this guitar which surprised me. The reason I ultimately sold my MIM version was because the frets were so terrible it made playing actually painful. This was perfect out of the box. If you've been on the fence I encourage you to try this model. You definitely won't regret it.
Sound
The sound of this model is definitely a standard piezo acoustic sound if your familiar with that. Some call piezo sounds "quaky" but This is much less that. Its very responsive to both finger picking and strumming. The electric pickup being right by… read more the bridge can definitely be bright. I had to shape my sound with my effect pedal, bringing up the kids and bass a bit and bringing down the highs to keep it from sounding too shrill. Responds VERY well to overdrive/distortion. I stack multiple gain layers and it performs well.
Features
The most useful feature is the blend knob. I can get a workable jazzbox tone out of this by starting at thr electric pickup and slowly bring in the the piezo. Setup your pedal/amp correctly and this makes for wonderful jazz tones, and I use it to lead worship at church and being able to switch patches on my PODGO and simply turn a knob to play electric or acoustic is so much easier than a flip switch and trying to remember which direction I have to turn my knob to be at the setting I want to be like the MIM model.
Ease of Use
ZERO learning curve to this guitar. Ther is beauty in its simplicity. You have a fantastic playing neck with ROSEWOOD that looks as beautiful as it sounds. Very easy to dial in and get going and its great for playing unplugged on the couch at home without disturbing anyone.
Quality
The guitar is EXTREMELY well made. I'll admit I was appreh3nsive about an Indonesian made Fender, but having recently purchased a Squier Classic Vibe and seeing how great it was, I thought I would try this out and I fell in love with it immediately.
Value
I think this is the perfect price point for Acoustasonic. The other two more expensive models are good in their own right but very expensive. This his the right price for what you get and is a simple, easy to use, beautiful guitar for the price.
Manufacturer Support
Haven't had to deal much with Fender as an entity, but they offer great resources to both new and experienced guitarists, and registering my warranty was quick and easy online.
The Wow Factor
It looks absolutely fantastic! Super light, easy to play (ther IS a bit of neck dive, it is a Jazzmaster afterall) and its a perfect songwriting guitar because it sits close to the body without being uncomfortable to play sitting down.
