The Epiphone Les Paul Performance Pack: About the Les Paul Special II

The Epiphone Les Paul Performance Pack is built around the Epiphone Les Paul Special II - a fine guitar, and a great way to introduce beginners to the historical importance of the Les Paul tone. Though many music fans most closely associate the Les Paul with the players that made it so famous - arguably, the most popular are Jimmy Page and Slash - the Gibson Les Paul has been used in a vast span of musical endeavors, ranging from metal and punk to blues and jazz. The key ingredient to its sound has always been its dual humbucking pickups, which offer a great full-bodied tone. Of course, these guitars are also prohibitively expensive for beginners - which makes the Epiphone Les Paul Special II a great choice. Epiphone is a sub-brand of Gibson which offers affordably built versions of many of the world's most popular guitars. Their Special II model includes many of the features that define the Les Paul - the familiar body shape, a pair of humbuckers, a mahogany neck - and is a great playing guitar for beginners.

I've been playing over a year now, with lessons. I have an Ibanez accoustic and I wanted to supplement my playing with electric. I'll use these 'til I wear them out and move on. Right now, both help me with my goals to improve and as time goes on I could possibly see myself upgrading. But in my busy life, that may be awhile.
Sound
It's just not a top of the line guitar.... you get what you pay for. BUT, for a beginner type guitar, it sounds pretty good.
Features
Came in a package with amp, cord, etc. So all in all it's pretty good.
Ease of Use
Again, this is a basic electric guitar. It does some things more expensive guitars do and the sound is good, but in the long run it is what it is.
Quality
It was made very well. Nice finish, fit and no blemishes. It seems like it will be dependable for a long time....if it's taken care of.
Value
To buy a guitar of this quality in a package like this was a great buy.
Manufacturer Support
Not sure yet as it's new at Xmas. You should put N/A for new purchases in your menu box for us newbies.
The Wow Factor
Just a practical addition to what I already have. It's a good looking guitar though.
