It's a cheap, youth focused guitar. Is it going to play like a Gibson SG? No, and you're crazy for expecting it to. With that said, if you want an iconic SG style body in a small easy to play, light form factor - this one is fine. If you know how to do a little setup and can adjust the action/intonation yourself - it is actually a very nice sounding little guitar. The pickups leave no room for complaint. The fit and finish itself is "fine" - the tone/volume knobs aren't all flush with the body for example; and the tuners are cheap... But it's a JUNIOR series guitar. Having got this as an open box for a discount, it's a no brainer to keep. For a full price purchaser - you may do better in this price range (Jackson JS11 series for example). The Epiphone Les Paul Special VE and Les Paul Special II are better guitars - full stop. Go buy those if it's a head to head choice. I like the sg style, it looks good in red - and I plan to rock out with this with no fear of damaging it - and that can sometimes make the guitar the most fun of them all.
