In the tradition of providing compact, high-performance sound reinforcement products that include the MS400 and EMX660, Yamaha Corporation of America, Professional Audio, introduces the SW500 Powered Subwoofer. The SW500 delivers 500 Watts of power (650 max.) in a low profile enclosure that is ideal for DJ systems, houses of worship, clubs, project studios, and any small-to-medium portable or installed speaker system where low frequency augmentation is desired.

Features
Balanced XLR A & B input connectors

Balanced XLR A/B/THRU outputs

Balanced XLR High Pass/A&B output connections

Controls include Master Level, Power, Phase, and Cutoff Frequency (80 Hz to 100 Hz).

Cabinet construction utilizes sturdy Fir ply

Covered with a durable black urethane finish

The ported bass reflex design maintains high efficiency and low distortion. The 15-in. driver provides up to 122dB SPL (1w @ 1 M), an overall frequency response of 40Hz to 120Hz, and can withstand the most demanding program material. An internal 500-Watt amplifier utilizes Yamaha's EEEngine Technology to maintain efficiency, low current draw, low heat, and reduced weight.

"Much of today's live and recorded music requires a solid bottom end," states Wayne Hrabak, marketing manager, Professional Audio. "In addition, the SW500 offers the ease of hookup and flexibility that users have come to expect from Yamaha."

Portable PAs often lack the punchy, chest-thumping low-end delivered by club installs and concert rigs. Adding read more subs, crossovers, and more amplifiers in order to get it has been a pricey proposition...until now!

The SW500 powered subwoofer makes adding massive bottom end to your sound system an easy operation. Built into the high-grade plywood bass reflex enclosure is a 500-watt power amplifier that drives the long-throw, cast-frame 15 in. driver. The amplifier utilizes Yamaha's EEEngine technology for greater performance and efficiency with low current draw, low heat, and reduced weight.

"The SW500 makes it easy to augment the all-important bottom curve," states John Schauer, product manager, Professional Audio. "It provides the extra 'kick' that is so characteristic of certain musical genresÖall in a compact enclosure, and without the need for external amplifiers."

On its back panel, the SW500 has dual XLR inputs (which accept either mono or stereo sources) and 2 sets of XLR outputs (one that passes a full range signal and one that incorporates a 100 Hz high pass filter). To further enhance its sonic performance, the SW500 has a phase reverse switch and a control for adjusting low-end roll-off frequency.

A pole mount is provided for adding a full-range cabinet above the SW500.
