zZounds Gear Experts Say...
All-tube circuitry. Spring reverb. 2 channels.

The first guitar amp for the new generation of Traynors is the Custom Valve 40 (YCV40). Real tube overdrive is provided by 3 Sovtek 12AX7WA dual triode preamp tubes while real tube power is provided by 2 Sovtek 5881WXT beam power tubes. The internal gadgetry in this channel-switching amp provides good flexibility, but makes it very easy to get a great tone. The combination of the tube power and the Celestion Red Label (black model) speaker is magical. The 3 basic tones (clean, crunch and overdrive) are easily defined. With great tone at low levels, and shine and punch at full tilt, the Custom Valve 40 is already receiving rave reviews. Traynor challenges you to compare us to the competition. You'll love the tone and instantly recognize the value.

Although signal-to-noise is not normally a specification that is discussed where guitar amplifiers are concerned, the ultra-quiet Custom Valve 40 makes it an issue. Experienced professional users will appreciate the auto-matching tube circuit that maintains bias balance as tubes age, ensuring hum-free performance. Also, the DC filaments on the preamp tubes all but eliminate hum. Listen carefully. Although the YCV40 has a tremendous amount of gain it remains virtually hum-free.

The unique 'nouveau-retro' packaging of this amp makes it perfect for the leading edge or historical enthusiasts. Though the look is very fresh, the Custom Valve 40 stays true to the original Traynor line with black vinyl-covering, chrome plated corners, all read more plywood construction, and a classic front-mounted Traynor logo. The rear-mounted control panel is easy to access, yet recessed for protection. And the warranty? Yorkville's standard 2-year (even if you break it!) transferable warranty*. The one that made Traynor famous in the sixties.

The YCV40WR is based off of the already extremely popular YCV40, which was a past Guitar Player Editor's Pick Award Winner.

But unlike the vintage-looking Traynor Custom Valve series which features black vinyl covering, Traynor has added a Wine Red leatherette and oatmeal grille to the already-standard chromeplated corners. This -- combined with the Celestion Vintage 30 speaker -- helps give the YCV40WR a rich 'boutique' look, sound and feel. The 3 basic tones (clean, crunch and overdrive) are easily defined. With great tone at low levels, and shine and punch at full tilt, the Custom Valve 40A is already receiving rave reviews, and that is sure to continue with the new YCV40WR. Traynor challenges you to compare them to the competition. You'll love the tone and instantly recognize the value.

* Warranty valid in Canada & United States only.
