zZounds Gear Experts Say...
18 inch sub with 500 watts of efficient Class D power. Pair it with a TH15A for true bumpyness!

Designed by the same team the produced Mackie’s best-selling compact active loudspeakers, the TH18S delivers chest-thumping lows with amazing precision. A ported bass reflex design produces tight low end. An all-new, lightweight, ultra-efficient Class D power amplifier delivers 500 watts RMS power, with far less waste heat produced versus competing designs. This makes the sub extremely lightweight and portable, without compromising the power and performance that you need.

Protection Without the Price Tag
Mackie knows that when you want a subwoofer, it’s so everyone in the room can feel your music. We also know that pushing most subs to their limits for extended periods of time can stress them out – not to mention the ears of your audience members. That’s why we’ve added active, corrective, and protective circuitry to the TH18S to keep them performing at their best, gig after gig. The efficient Class D amplifier design runs cooler, even when the music is pumping. A transparent compression circuit protects your sub when you occasionally run into clipping, without fear of thermal damage. If things do get too hot out there, thermal sensors shut down the amp section until it’s cool enough to resume safe operation. Finally, an over-excursion filter protects the 18” woofer from bottoming-out when you are really bumping. No need for bodyguards here, the TH18S has your back.

A Heavyweight That Weighs Less
Even with 500 watts of rump-shaking power, the TH18S’ world-class read more design is lean and mean. The onboard Class D amp is ultra-lightweight, yet doesn’t sacrifice a single watt of pure power. Simply put, the TH18S delivers more power with less weight. So give your roadies a night off. The built in handles and lightweight design make transportation easy.

A Perfect Match
Everybody needs a friend, and the TH18S has found a life-long buddy in the Tapco Thump TH15A. Together, you have a complete (and completely affordable) “plug and play” active system that is ideal for small club, DJ, or rehearsal applications. There is a pole mount on the TH-18s that allows you to mount the TH15A directly above the sub and a built-in Stereo High-Pass out on the TH-18s ensures it will work perfectly with the TH-15A, letting each loudspeaker do what it does best.

"Get what you pay for; good bass, good portability, at good price"

Overall: 3.5 out of 5 stars

I am very satisfied with this product for the price I paid. Mackie and Tapco are always spot on for value vs. price. If I wanted a studio speaker or was playing live tunes, I'd cough up more for a better sound reproducing sub. For my drunken djing; it's portability, price, and adequate sound levels are just fine.
Sound
Since this is the only "pro" sub I've purchased, I don't have much to compare it to. However, it was LOUD, but I found it didn't mate well with my assortment of great sounding JBL Eon G2s. It either down them out, or didn't really augment. Overall, it did the job of adding some much needed room shaking bass, but as far as clear and responsive sound it was a bit lacking
Features
All the needed amenities, gain, pass through, etc. All well designed.
Ease of Use
Just plugged it in and went, but as mentioned above was a little hard to tune into the whole mix without overpowering it all.
Quality
Broken in shipping, looked like someone kicked the box and even through the shipping padding cracked the box and side handle. Made me feel like a hard drop and it might shatter.
Value
A LOT of bass for the price, just loses a little clarity
Manufacturer Support
Love the company, love the products. Price is right for what you get.
The Wow Factor
If you just want a party speaker to kick up the feel of those mp3s during backyard shin digs it's perfect! Just make sure no one kicks it.
