Built on a thick 13-ply maple shell with an exotic wood outer ply, Tama's SLP G-Maple snare offers bright sound, greater sensitivity, and huge tuning range.

Overview

The Tama G-Maple snare drum is built on the foundation of a thicker 11mm, 13-ply maple shell that gives it a bright sound, along with increased volume and sensitivity. Its 2.3mm flanged hoops and separate low-mass lugs enable the shell to resonate naturally, and enhance its punchy sound.

In order to provide a more crisp and sensitive sound, Tama redesigned their Snare Wires using new materials, customizing the shape of the plate, and changing the wire coils' winding pattern. As a result, the Super Sensitive Hi-Carbon Snare Wire fits more closely to the snare side head, providing greater sensitivity and brighter, crisper sound.

Evans G1 Coated batter and clear snare-side heads provide excellent tone right out to the box. The beautiful exotic wood outer ply along with shimmering black nickel drum hardware gives this drum an impressive and attractive look.

This snare is extremely gorgeous. It's more beautiful it person. The snare is very powerful, cutting, crisp,articulate and has great sensitivity. To me the drum has everything from crack to body. The drum project with clarity. The drum is well built and hardware compliment the snare good. To me the snare is a mixture of the slp power maple snare and the slp g bubinga snare......now if didnt like any demos for the snare, I suggest you can experiment with other batter heads, different hoops or different snare wires. This shell is well constructed

Try different head combinations or die-cast hoops/wood hoops. Or even different snare wires

This is to me one of the best you can ever buy at this price. This snare kills more high end snare drums thats out there. And this snare could be priced $200 more
