This snare is extremely gorgeous. It's more beautiful it person. The snare is very powerful, cutting, crisp, articulate and has great sensitivity. To me the drum has everything from crack to body. The drum project with clarity. The drum is well built and hardware compliment the snare good. To me the snare is a mixture of the slp power maple snare and the slp g bubinga snare......now if didnt like any demos for the snare, I suggest you can experiment with other batter heads, different hoops or different snare wires. This shell is well constructed
Sound
Try different head combinations or die-cast hoops/wood hoops. Or even different snare wires
Ease of Use
Very easy to play
Quality
Everything is well made and put together.
Value
This is to me one of the best you can ever buy at this price. This snare kills more high end snare drums thats out there. And this snare could be priced $200 more
Manufacturer Support
I own 8 snares from this company. 3 signature snares, 3 slp series and 2 standard snares from tama and no problem.
The Wow Factor
This is a great snare for touring, gigging or just a collection item.

I needed a wood snare to compliment and be a side snare my DW black nickel/brass snare. I pulled this out of the box, and with some slight tuning to the heads from the factory, I quickly realized this might just become my main snare. It’s super sensitive and has such great tone and just enough sustain/buzz. I might go so far as to say that it sounds better in a lot of situations than most of my DW snare drums. And at the price point, you can’t beat this thing (no pun intended....maybe). It’s got the qualities of drums that far exceed the price of what you’ll pay for this. And couple that with the amazing customer service provided by zZounds, it’s easily a winning combination. If you’re thinking about buying this...think no more. Do it....do it now. You will not regret it. And being an owner of several kits from several manufacturers (Tama included), this might be used with other kits as well. Not just for its amazing sound, but the fact that it is a beautiful looking drum....or dare I say....work of art, makes me want to play it all the time. Alright, enough gushing....I’m off to play my new snare!!!
