As one can imagine, this puts a bit of stress on a guitar that is not ultimately designed for this type of stringing. The solution... Takamine's 12-string, purpose-built for this demanding style: the GD74CE-12U (the "U" is for unison).

The guitar has a reinforced spruce top that is double-x braced to handle the additional string load, while projecting with clarity and sweetness via a flame maple body. The neck is also made of maple for additional structural rigidity.
