Admittedly, the "I'm lost in the interior decoration section at JC Penny in 1987"- or Burgundy Mist- finish grabbed my attention, so I got this bass regardless if it was an entry-level Squire. Well, I'm glad I picked this bass up, because I haven't put it down much since I got it. The scale-length and neck are very comfortable. The contoured body is comfortable for me, since I'm disabled and play sitting down and the neck-radius enables me to ply comfortably with my hand at an angle, as well as use my thumb. Poplar, to me, is a fine tone wood, and lightens weight and brightens sound. I did make minor adjustments to the saddles, but the bridge provides adequate sustain for my needs. The only thing I intend to replace are the volume knobs, which seem rather...plastic. Plugging it in, it sounds great- through an Ampeg or plastic Joyo prctice mp. All in all, a great value as a knockaround, practice, or gigging instrument in an eye catching finish
