Features
High-quality 24-bit A/D/A converters: Assures accurate sound reproduction

Wide Bit Stream technology: Yields 20-bit precision. Increases low-level resolution and dynamic range.

ATRAC type "R": The latest generation ATRAC technology. Intelligent re-sampling of the encoded signal results in even more accurate sound quality.

MDLP-Long Play Recording Mode: By utilizing ATRAC 3 (a new encoding scheme), it is possible to achieve extended recording/playback times, which is useful for recording meeting minutes, logging, etc. Two stereo modes are available: x2-for up to 160 mins and x4 - for up to 320 mins. (using 80 min. MD media).

10 Multi-Access (Hot Start) memories: By memorizing the first few seconds each of up to 10 tracks, it is possible to access these tracks instantaneously via the supplied remote or PC keyboard. This is useful for radio/DJ and live theater production.

Vari-speed function: Playback sources may be varied by +/- 12.5% (standard mode), or -12.5% (LP mode), in .5% steps.

PS/2 keyboard input: The front panel is equipped with a read more standard PC keyboard interface, which allows easier access to remote and track/disc titling functions, plus hot starts.

RAM Edit: TOC data may be edited and used in a non-destructive fashion for temporary production application. This allows even protected masters to be edited without changing the TOC data on the disc.

Scale Factor Edit: Allows relative levels of various tracks to be changed after recording takes place. This can prevent wildly different playback levels, which can occur in productions done from various sources.

Auto track marking: Tracks can be marked automatically at timed intervals (from 1-10 minutes) or via a level sync mode that detects the start of music after a long pause. This can demarcate program material and make it easier to locate during editing and production.

Control-S input for supplied wired/wireless remote: Included full-function remote offers transport, titling and editing capabilities in an IR or wired configuration

Analog and digital record level: Rear panel, analog record reference-level control, plus digital (accessed via remote) record level control. Record level remains set until changed via digital control, minimizing inadvertent changes.

Large, easy-to-read fluorescent display: All status and menus are displayed

Flexible TOC editing: Combine/Multi-Track Combine/Undo. Erase: All/Track/A-B/Multi-Track. Name: In/Erase/All Erase/Copy/Copy All.

Mono recording mode: Using ATRAC "R" provides up to 160 mins of program. Compatible with all mono playback MD recorders.

Balanced XLR and Unbalanced RCA analog I/O, coaxial digital I/O.: Provides a flexible interface for both analog and digital connections

Auto Cue/Auto Pause and Next Track Select: Provides flexibility in cueing program material.

Time Machine Recording: Records the first 6 seconds of a recording, even before you press Record.

RS-232C serial control interface: Allows remote control via PC (*software drivers required)

Parallel control interface: Allows remote control via GPI (i.e. fader starts)

Rec/Play relay bus: Allows cascade of multiple MDS-E12s for consecutive "long-time" play or record functions.
