This model is designed for an acoustic sound. It aims to reproduce the rich resonance and upright bass tones from chambered bodies. It's an excellent choice for those pursuing unplugged or smooth jazz music.

MARCUS ACOUSTIC BASS BODY
Sire GB5's body is made up of mahogany with solid spruce top giving the acoustic aesthetic vibes, and connected to a 3-piece mahogany neck with rosewood fretboard for easier glide.

VIVIDX-B PREAMP
It is a more typical preamp for an acoustic bass. It features a piezo pickup under the saddle, a three band EQ (treble, middle, bass), and a phase switch allowing players to adjust the sound to their preference.

SIRE ACOUSTIC BASS NECK
It is a C-shape Edgeless neck made up of a 3-pc Mahogany with Rosewood fingerboard for maximum playability. Also available in fretless variant.

I bought this bass because I saw it available on zZounds. I have the fretless version on backorder from another vendor. I ordered it from ZZ and it came very quickly and packaged very well. The Bass plays like a dream. Definitely will give you an acoustic sound if that is what you’re looking for. It came with phosphorus bronze strings, which are very bright, however, since I had a pair of flats laying around and put those on and they sound very good. The piezo pick up is very hot. I played it at church where it is just me and a guitar player and I feel like we mix very well. The bass weighs around the same weight as a typical jazz bass. I was kind of surprised that it was that heavy. My guess is 7.5lb. It’s fun to play and sounds great. On board preamp is just fine. I don’t quite understand the phase switch and what it does. I’m still getting used to this Bass. Natural color is beautiful.
