Seymour Duncan SSL-1 Vintage Staggered Stratocaster RWRP Pickup

Get the classic in-between Strat quack that only reverse-wound, reverse-polarity design can deliver with this Duncan SSL-1 Vintage Staggered RWRP pickup.

The Seymour Duncan SSL-1 Vintage Staggered RWRP for Stratocaster uses the same hand ground alnico 5 rod magnets and heavy Formvar magnet wire as our standard version, but is made reverse wound reverse polarity, RWRP. When combined with the neck or bridge pickups, it will produce that classic in-between Strat quack, but with none of the traditional single coil hum.

On its own, this pickup will give you the same bright, crisp tone that you get from the standard wound model. Combine with an SSL-1 in the neck and bridge for a complete vintage set. Or combine with a higher output bridge model such as a SSL-5 for more bite. Built the same way since 1978, we use the proper color and thickness of Forbon flatwork with all of our vintage Fender style single coil pickups. Along with the period correct magnet stagger, this pickup comes complete with waxed and tinned cloth pushback hook-up wires and traditional keyed bottom plate. Seymour Duncan hand files the flatwork, assembles, and lacquers the bobbin just as it was done during Fenders Golden Age.

I have this thing in an hss setup on a squier affinity stratocaster. I put a SD SSL 2 in the neck and a 78 Trembucker in the bridge. This guy pairs well with both. On its own, it's got a nice tone. Like a slightly less quacky telecaster bridge pickup. The pickup is loud and clear. I don't have any major complaints. It's a little pricey, but Seymour Duncan has never let me down. You pay for the consistency of quality. You can play the roulette game with cheap pickups and hope you find one you like quickly or you can just get a Seymour Duncan pickup and move on with your life.
