Seymour Duncan AHB-2b Blackouts Metal Pickup

zZounds Gear Experts Say...
When extreme output is needed, go for the active Seymour Duncan Blackouts! A removable shunt offers access to milder, more moderate tones as well.

The Seymour Duncan AHb-2b Blackouts Metal humbucker (bridge) is the reincarnation of Seymour Duncan's original LiveWire Metal humbucker. With its infamous brain-melting output level and headroom, this pickup is so hot that they added a feature that gives you access to a second, moderate, output level.

The Blackouts Metal comes from the factory with a slide-on shunt connecting the two pins. Simply remove the shunt and the pickup will be in moderate output mode. You can also run the two pins to a push-pull or mini-toggle switch so you can switch between the two output levels for a built-in boost switch. This pickup is thick and crunchy, and will provide a massively saturated distortion tone with tons of string sensitivity. Lock in with the double bass and lay waste to those who stand before you.

Comes with pots, hardware, quick-connector cables, capacitor (active pickups require a special cap value), output jack, battery clip, and wire needed for installation. If your guitar already has active pickups with quick-connector cables installed, you should be able to simply unplug them and plug in your Blackouts.

I've been buying Seymour Duncan pickups for years now and this one is another one of my favorites. Seymour Duncan pickups have taken over almost all my guitars and this one is definitely made for metal. I bought a bridge pickup for my Ibanez RGDIR6M tuned to drop C and it sounds incredible. If there was an option for a white set, I would have gone with it. Can't seem to find a white AHB-2 neck pickup anywhere. I just wanted to bring back the sorta factory look since the guitar came with white humbuckers. If there was an option for customer photos, I'd show what it looked like before and after. It's a very aggressive pickup. Lots of good and tight low end. You can feel the ground rumble. Quite similar to the AHB-1 or the alt. Metal set. It's sad to say that the EMGs that were previously installed were not doing it for me anymore so I swapped them out. I still like EMGs but Blackouts for the win. 1,000/10 stars.
Sound
A very thumpy low end when chugging. I have a bridge AHB-2b in my drop C guitar and can't wait to get more sets for my others in different tunings.
Ease of Use
Very easy to get a great sound of out of a Blackout if you have your amp/DAW dialed right.
Manufacturer Support
As said above, I have been buying Seymour Duncan pickups for years for a good reason. Their pickups are very versatile and easy to install. You can get some great sounds through many of their pickups. I tend to buy a lot of the metal focused ones but I'm down to try other pickups they offer.
