The sE Electronics VR2-NG is an active ribbon microphone that brings voices and violins forward in a mix with the extended high-frequency reach of the VR series. Its hand-tensioned 2.5 micron aluminum ribbon and sE's mechanical design, drawn up by founder Siwei Zou, respond out to 18 kHz, so the mic keeps ribbon smoothness while adding the detail and air that older ribbons miss.

Built-in active electronics raise sensitivity to 14.1 mV/Pa and present a 200-ohm output, so the VR2 drives any preamp with plenty of level and low noise; it runs on standard 48V phantom power. Figure-8 pickup and 135 dB SPL handling suit it to vocals, drum overheads and rooms, acoustic and electric guitar, orchestral strings, piano, woodwinds, and brass. The all-metal housing with a gold-plated XLR rejects interference and is finished to last.

This version ships with three purpose-built accessories: the SHM12 shock mount isolates the mic from stand-borne vibration and handling noise, the low-profile MC44 clip mounts it fast, and the WS12 foam windscreen tames breath blasts and shields the ribbon during close vocal work. A soft case is included.
