I'll be honest: I'd like a more high-end bass eventually--a MusicMan, Warwick, or Lakland. But for right now, this bass more than fits my needs.

Sound
This bass is my first 5-string, and it sounds nice and full; it sports a wide spectrum of tones. I own two Fenders and a Steinberger, and this fits in well with the collection. The active tone controls work well, and are easy to adjust--a bit easier than my Marcus Miller. The B string is a little bit flabby, but not unusably so. I guess I would prefer a bit more tension on the string. I would like to be able to switch the pickups from humbucking to single-coil. The pickup mix pot is fine; I'd like a pickup selector switch.

Features
For the price, this bass is well-appointed, much better than a Warwick RockBass I tried out earlier in the year. The hardware is attractive and solid, as far as I can tell. The battery compartment could use a bit of a redesign: it's difficult to pull the battery out of the compartment because of the wealth of padding surrounding the battery. Without the padding, though, the battery would knock around the inside of the compartment.

Ease of Use
Great tone, easy to learn and put into practice. The hardest thing for me has been getting used to the extra string.

Quality
For the price, this is an amazing bass. It was set up well. The finish and hardware are beautiful. I purchased this… read more as a blem, and it took me awhile to find the blemish--a scratch around the input jack. The mahogany body produces good resonance and very good sustain, unlike basswood-bodied basses I've tested. It's also a nice tonal change from my ash-bodied basses.

Value
There's not another bass out there for the price I paid that can come close to this bass.

Manufacturer Support
I can't comment here, because I haven't needed to contact them yet. I appreciate their web site, and friends who have Schecters have commented on having no problems with customer service. These guys seem to really care about their products, though: they take care to set up the instruments well and handle them professionally.

The Wow Factor
This a good looking piece of gear. I grew out of novel designs decades ago; this bass is just sexy enough that I don't mind showing off with it a bit, but classy enough to be at home in the church I play in.
