Needed a cheap but decent quality guitar to have around for practice sessions and minor modding so I could leave the rest of my collection for recording. Honestly got exactly what I was looking for, and the more I play, the more I like this thing. I did have to do some work on it, but let me give you the positives first.Neck quality is decent enough, just your typical maple neck with a fairly chunky profile. The body is super well finished, no imperfections I found and it looks much more slick in person. Since it's an HSS configuration, you've got a wide range of tones here and these pickups sound really good no matter what setting I'm on. The humbucker has a really nicely balanced voice that can easily go from sparkly cleans all the way to hard rock and modern metal, which is crazy. The two single coils sound awesome clean or with a little dirt. Very impressed with the quality of all 3 pickups. Are they perfect? No, but they're still pretty good, especially for this price. The knobs, switch, and output jack are all really nice quality too, knobs roll super smooth and the switch is solid and locks into each position nice and easy. The nut was cut well, does appear to be cheaper material but it's doing just fine. The trem was actually screwed all the way down when it arrived which is great because I'd planned on doing this anyways, but it does work fine if you did want to make use of it. But now we get to the negative. The tuners were atrocious honestly. Two of the six were slipping…

badly enough that it took a half a turn to get them to engage at all, and on top of that, all six were terribly imprecise. They're the screwless type too, so be aware that if you've got some Grovers or something laying around to throw on you'll have to drill for the screws. I had to do this out of necessity as the guitar did not stay in tune at all with the stock tuners. Massive improvement, strongly advise doing this right off the rip. I also had to do a ton of fretwork here too. Thankfully, everything was level at least but I had to file down each end on both sides to get it feeling good. That being said, those are the only two major negatives I have. Having solved these two problems I'm having a lot of fun with this thing and for cheap too. Makes me want to look into the more expensive Sterling offerings.
