I didn't like the harsh sound or the squeeks and clacking noises of the round wound strings that came with my Squire Jazz Bass, so i got the Rotosound RS77LD strings. No more squeeks, the other noises are reduced quite a bit, and the sound is great! Some folks prefer "roundies", but not me. People say flat wound strings are muddy, but these aren't, not to me, anyway. The E and A strings have a nice "growl" on my bass, I was surprised. The other two strings sound nice, too. I don't play "slap", but tried it just for laughs, the E and A strings actually sound good, though I couldn't "pop" the other two (I never really learned how to slap, so who knows). I was also able to lower the action a good deal, without any fret buzz. Nice strings!
