The VS-2000CD Digital Studio Workstation sets a new standard for affordable digital recording. With 18 tracks, 8 XLR inputs and support for 3rd party plug-ins, this next-generation V-Studio gives users the power to create like never before. The optional VS20-VGA adds a VGA output and mouse port for mouse-based graphical editing and control. If the 40GB drive isn't enough for you, use the USB2.0 to save all your projects, import drum PCMs or transfer .WAV/AIFF mixes and files.
Speaking of drum PCMs, the 2000 includes a killer sample based drum machine with cool programming graphics. Use buttons and faders to "play" your own drum grooves. To help you make better recordings, all sorts of guitar effects and models are included (as well as a dedicated Hi-Z input and a tuner). Vocal-wise, add instant harmonies with the Harmony Sequence Function. Getting around is a breeze with dedicated input strip knobs.

The VS-2000 includes a VS8F-2, hardwired, with slots for two more cards (see the VS8F-3 section). V-Link allows for video/music integration using an Edirol video editor to trigger effects and clips.

"Review the machine please......not your abilities"
Had my last stand alone multitrack (Fostex) for 10 years. If this one lasts, I'll probably keep it that long too.
Sound
My Daddy always said, "It's a poor mechanic that blames his tools". I have no problems with the VS2000CD. The manual is big (441 pages) with an addendum that deals with the VGA monitor and mouse board. Just read them as you go along when you need them. I've been recording since the old Reel to Reel days. It's still the same, just easier with more tracks. Get the PDF copy of the manual and put it on your computer and then pull it up on the monitor while you're learning to use the VS2000. It's faster than fliping pages and you can cut copy and paste just the instructions that you need to refer back to quickly and put them in a file folder for easier access. Don't know who the guy was that gave the first bad review about it being plastic junk, but don't think he gave it a fair shot. Babies don't get up and walk immediately. It takes at least 9 months. Take some time learning this machine and it will serve you well. I do music for a living and this machine is doing the job for me. It's a joy to record with. As for the sound it produces, read my first sentence. Recording is an art that has to be learned.
