Popular TD12S kit enhanced with a second crash cymbal (CY12R/C) and cymbal mount (MDY10U). Kick drum pedal and hi-hat stand not included.

When electronic drumming was in its infancy, it was treated as a second class citizen by much of the drumming community. "Yeah, it's ok for some things, but it will never replace my acoustic kit," was the prevalent thinking. Well, the technology has come a long way, baby, and many acoustic players are looking at e-drums in a different light. Roland is at the forefront of technological advancement in this area, and their TD12-SV kit has enough playability and feel to change even more minds.

The Snozberries taste like Snozberries!
Timing and feel are crucial for a solid groove, so the drummer has to feel at home when sitting behind the kit. A small circle of rubber mounted in place of the hi-hat, or a cheap plastic foot trigger in place of the kick drum just isn't business as usual. The TD12-SV kit includes a hi-hat trigger that mounts on your favorite hi-hat stand, giving you the right height and familiar pedal-action feel along with open, closed, and semi-closed operation. Close your eyes and you'll swear it's the real deal. Roland's KD85 kick pad accepts any standard bass drum pedal, so your four-on-the-floor beats and funky syncopations are right on time.

Black, White, and Mesh All Over
Every head on this V-Studio kit, kick, snare, and toms, comes complete with Roland's tried-and-true mesh heads. Your sticks rebound more naturally than the aforementioned rubber discs, offering more expressive control over fills, rolls, and ghost notes. The snare and tom pads all offer two-zone read more triggering, so you can add some rim crack to your tone for hard-hitting Rock grooves or get extra mellow with a sidestick Bossa Nova beat. In addition, you get three CY-12R/C V-Cymbal pads for use as crashes, rides, splashes, and more. These 12-inch cymbal pads are closely matched to traditional acoustic cymbals in shape, weight, and striking surface for a natural swing motion and authentic playing experience. This kit supports three-way cymbal triggering for distinct bow, bell, and edge sounds, plus choke capability for even more realism up top. The TD12-SV includes a tube-style stand with flexible positioning options so you can set your kit up to match your playing style.

Insane in the Brain!
No electronic drum conversation (or kit, for that matter) is complete without the module, or brain as it is sometimes called. The drum brain takes the information coming in from the triggers and translates it into drum sounds. No one knows more about building pro-quality drum brains than Roland, and the TD-12 module is right up there with the best. It's got the same amazing sound quality as the flagship TD-20, with literally hundreds of sounds to choose from. The pros at Roland have mixed and matched may of these sounds into dozens of preset kits, so it's easy to dial in smoky Jazz, bouncy Bop, greasy Funk, blistering Rock, and much, much more. You can easily customize any of these kits, or create your own unique blend, with the powerful V-Editing controls. Change the size, depth and shell material of any of the individual components to subtly tweak or radically alter the sound, and adjust the amount of snare buzz to your liking. Add sizzles or tambourines to your cymbal sounds, totally tricking out your kit for recording sessions or live performance. You can even play with brushes, and this brain will pick up all the nuances of your technique! The Interval Control feature senses your stroke repetition and varies the sound in natural ways for a completely immersive percussion experience. You get a total of twelve input connections (ten for the included pads, plus two more for expansion) to build your dream kit, or several dream kits, and you can call them up with the push of a button.

Roland TD12SV V-Stage Electronic Kit

With V-Drums in constant demand around the world, Roland proudly offers drummers another option in its award-winning lineup. The new TD12SV builds on the popular TD12S kit by adding an additional V-Cymbal and mount, making it an amazing value that provides drummers even more expressive potential.

Features
Popular TD12S kit enhanced with a second crash cymbal (CY12R/C) and cymbal mount (MDY10U)

Perfect for practice, with expressive sounds, quiet and natural-feeling mesh heads, preset backing patterns, built-in metronome, mix input, headphone output

Great for live performance, with instant drum kit switching with Chain function, bright and big LCD, large buttons, four outputs, sturdy metal chassis and drum stand

Ideal for recording since less equipment is necessary--no mics, drum isolation booths, or extra drums needed for different sounds

Unbeatable Sound
With the same stunning sound quality as the flagship TD20, the new TD12 drum module provides hundreds of expressive instruments and play-along sequences in a streamlined, affordable package. Many of the sounds in the TD12, from drums to cymbals, are COSM modeled for the ultimate in expression and realism. The module provides the same large, icon-based LCD as its big brother (the TD20), and is housed in a road-tough, metallic black chassis with a friendly array of buttons, controls, and mix sliders. Twelve trigger inputs are provided, plus four audio outputs and MIDI I/O.

Unrivaled V-Editing
Enjoy the dozens of expert-programmed kits in the TD12 -- from authentic acoustic sets to ultra-modern electronic flavors. But the fun doesn't stop there; customize your snare drum, toms, bass drum, and cymbals with the modeling-based V-Editing. Change sizes and materials, attach sizzles to cymbals, increase snare buzz, and more. Then get out your sticks and enjoy! The TD12 supports positional sensing on the snare and ride, as well as on the toms when you play rimshots. The TD12 is also brush compatible, and features the expressive Interval Control feature for the snare and ride/crash/china cymbal, which varies the sound in natural ways based on the speed of stroke repetition.

Ok i'm tired of typing so long summary short. If you have an acoustic set and want some electronic sauce to put on the side, don't hesitate; it's gonna be a delicious sandwich to bite into. If you don't like acoustic sets for whatever reason, get it. Some people just want electronics for easy recording, so go for it.

Sound
For an electric kit, this gets the best sound in the world. It's based on its flagship the TD-20 so the quality and detail of the sound is phenominal. But, having recently listen to a live college band with a miked acostic set, it unfortunately isn't abe to produce the high detail sounds of an acoustic, but that shouldn't hold you back. Software such as EZdrummer can get that rich real acoustic sound' while providing that ease of mind that your neighbors aren't calling the cops for disturbing the peace.

Features
I give it a nine only cause Roland didn't think of adding another floor tom. Other than that, it's really great for people in the dorm or apartment who want all the features of multiple percussion instruments on their kit, while remaining practically silent. By the way, this means no having to run to the nearest music store to pick up a cowbell, tambourine, or foot cabasa; it's all right in front of you with a push of a button.

Ease of Use
I only played this for three hours, so I didn't get the whole experience of this kit, but finding the kits, editing them, read more and saving them as user presets is a very easy task. Thanks Roland.

Quality
Two words. TOUGH PADS. These pads are tough, as well as the cymbals. I dont think that they will ever wear out; but if they somehow do, I would have most likely gone through three modules to come to a head breaking. That's a feat of engineering. The rack is also amazing.

Value
Could be a little cheaper, but hey; it's the runner up for the most advanced electronic drumkit on earth. What do you expect?

Manufacturer Support
I don't own it but they have a great website with support links. They will help.

The Wow Factor
I play songs that use acoustic drums. That's a job for my miked acoustic kit. But, I want to jam along to other songs with a little 808 or 909 kit setting. That's a job for the TD-12.
