Pleasure to receive my second PRS-SE (first was a 2021 Paul's Special). Was torn between the DGT and this 594. Ultimately went for the shorter scale, and the more vibrant finish. Personally I can't stand "blackback" guitars - they just exhibit a "we took a shortcut" appearance, so opted for the vintage sunburst with the nice woodgrain back and colored headstock. I've owned approx. 15-17 Les Paul's, a significant majority Epiphones in the 8.5-9.0 lb range. This 594, with its scale & neck carve - feels (in a great way) like I've slung a lighter Les Paul Std over my shoulder. The neck carve is stunningly similar to that of a standard "C" Epi (NOT a SlimTaper), and I'm totally good with that - it keeps things familiar. This PRS came in at what I consider a bit heftier weight for a typical PRS double-cut, at about 8 lbs, or a shade over. Again, which is fine, as I can't stand light guitars. Was hoping I would not get strapped with one of these 7-7.5 pound wimpy things. Weight corelates to TONE, and this SE resonates thick & warm (acoustically), and did not require any additional or corrective setup! Plugged in it will certainly be a beast.Slight CONS that should be realistically not totally unexpected (but can easily be dealt with without whining) - 2 fret ends were noticeably sharp - actually on the burry side, which immediately got my attention. As many others have noted elsewhere, the tuners have a flimsy feel & operation. The Revolution tuning machines are on the way to the rescue! read more Balance of the PRS is stellar. The sheer value factor on these upper-tier SE's remains pretty solid.
