The Cliff Williams "Icon" series StingRay is a faithful precision-built recreation of Cliff's 1979 Sunburst StingRay bass. Initially dubbed "The #1 Workhorse", his bass has seen more than 40 years of service in stadiums, concert halls, and recording studios throughout the world. This particular instrument has laid the foundation for some of AC/DC's most iconic songs including Back in Black, Hells Bells, For Those About To Rock, and hundreds more of rock's most memorable hits.

For Music Man, the arduous task was recreating the entire essence of this workhorse instrument and capturing the details 100% correct. Staying true to the original, every nuance and characteristic was examined and addressed. Body wood, original spec neck and body radii, pickup construction, forearm wear and tear, nitrocellulose checking, belt rash, faded sunburst shading, and more was dutifully replicated by Music Man's team of master craftsmen.

In addition, the original '70s StingRay specifications were fully implemented including a 3-bolt neck attachment with micro tilt adjustment, bullet truss rod, strings-thru-body bridge, and micro-powered 2-band preamp. Taking everything into consideration, the resulting outcome is a finely crafted instrument that feels, plays, and sounds just like Cliff's original #1 StingRay bass.
