Plug in for small-scale shredding. The MG15FX Micro Stack offers real rock power in a tiny enclosure.
Overview
The MG15FX Micro Stack features 15 watts driving two 10-inch speaker cabinets that delivers the Marshall tone in an easy to transport stack. Plus the MG15FX Micro Stack features four switchable channels and a 3-band EQ that lets you shape your tone. Marshall's exclusive, groundbreaking FDD circuitry gives the MG4 Series the unbelievable depth of sound and unique feel of their legendary, all-tube amps. It does this by emulating the way an all-tube power amp interacts with the speaker(s) it is driving. The easy to use panel controls include gain, followed by a three-band EQ, volume and Master Volume.
The 4 channels are Clean, Crunch, OD1 and OD2. Switching seamlessly between channels is easy with the push button controls. Plus the amp features two modes: Preset and Manual. Preset mode stores the position of all the controls except the master volume while the manual mode is the actual physical position of the controls. Settings for each channel can be customized and saved for instant recall.
The MG15FXMS provides two simultaneous effects, Reverb and one of these four digital effects (Chorus, Phaser, Flanger or Delay). The Delay can be manually set using the front panel Tap button.
The combination line out/headphone out features speaker cabinet emulation, giving you full Marshall sound when recording or practicing through headphones. A line input allows you to play along with MP3 and CD players. I reviewed and have bought a few "botique" amps and I consider this a botique amp. But I think this amp will be all I need. I may buy a Blackheart BH112 Guitar Speaker Cabinet (75 Watts, 1x12 in.) IN fact that will be my next purchase.
Sound
The sound of this amp is incredible. IT can go from dirty to clean and sounds fantastic. The only thing I think it lacks is umph... THe Marshall cabs that come with it are bright but can be toned down with the Mg head controls. I wish they would just offer the head like Blackheart, vox and epiphone. I plug'd this head into my Epiphone Jr Valve cabinet and that made a world of difference. I play country and classic rock and this amp gives me what I need. I use this amp live and plays and sounds as good as any amp I"ve used..It doesn't break your back packing this gear around. So if your looking for an amp that you can use to practice with and use live, this amp is for you. Your sound man will love you ......
Features
You definitely need the MG pedal if you're using this live and is why I gave it a rating of 9, it should have been included with the package. I had to get it from a Canadian store because NO US stores online or offline had them in stock....And had to pay $25 more than if zZounds or MF had it in stock.....IT should have came with the amp.... And again I wish there was an option to just buy the amp head.... The MG pedal is programmable so you can set the amp the… read more way you want and program it to the pedal...
Ease of Use
IT's a Marshall...No learning curve, can use straight out of the box. Like I said this sounds great using my Epiphone Jr Valve cabinet so I would bet it would sound just as good with the Blackheart BH112 Guitar Speaker Cabinet (75 Watts, 1x12 in.) as well. Marshal should think about making a cabinet like those to sell with the MG15HFX head...that would be a great combination.
Quality
It is well made, durable, has the Marshall name so you know it's great quality. I use it live and get a great sound and if it broke or got stolen I would buy another one in a heartbeat.. I think the least thing I like about the package is again the cabinets..But they do sound good.
Value
The value is great but like I said they should have included the pedal with the package even if it would have cost a little more it would have been worth it.
Manufacturer Support
I can't comment on the support since I haven't had to deal with them.
The Wow Factor
IT may be small but it's still a Marshall....
