This isn’t your normal Martin or acoustic but with saying that it’s a positive things. The acoustic isn’t made of traditional wood, instead it is made of the same stuff you find in hardened counter tops. It will take a beating first of all. The HPL body means dragging it out in the cold isn’t going to change the tuning as drastically as a regular acoustic and same goes for the heat. I’m a street performer and lugging a guitar around in all weather is my thing. This acoustic would be great for camping, beach days or as a starter guitar. The neck is really smooth and the neck shape makes it real easy to play. I use a slide quite a bit but also play rock and country this fits the bill of many genres. The tuners are what you would expect at this price point and the preamp is what you will find in many 1,000 dollar acoustics. I pulled the guitar out of the box and just had to tune one string and went straight to the street putting a full days work in. I’m more than impressed. Sound quality unplugged is amazing, the guitar can get super quiet and if you dig in or use a heavier flat pic the bass tone and mids really shine. Plug it up and it will surprise ya. A good mention is the placement of where you plug it in, instead of the strap peg like most acoustics it’s placed offset like a tele meaning a cable will not get in the way and quick change outs. Battery is next to the neck and easy to swap out, no digging around the sound hole. The gig bag isn’t horrible at all, read more plenty of padding and it is a snug fit for the guitar; huge plus when I’m walking or using transit halfway across a city like Nashville or Chicago. The fret work is really nice and the edges are smooth not sharp; surprising for a guitar at this price point. The back of the neck and headstock is breathtaking and catches the eye of whomever sees it. I have 1000 dollar acoustics that this would outshine. I did buy this for one main purpose and that was to play live not having to worry about beating it around; a workhorse you could say and it definitely is right in its element plus it’s a Martin and has that beautiful Martin tone we all love.
