Tri-amplified with 300W RMS low-frequency, 100W RMS mid-frequency and 100W high-frequency amplifiers.
Overview
For those looking to step up from portable active speakers like the SRM450 to the higher output and floor-pounding authority of larger wooden cabinets, Mackie presents the redesigned SR Series. These affordable 2- and 3-way professional active loudspeakers provide large-format sound, real wood cabinets, and integrated "no-hassle" active electronics'retaining all the simplicity of the popular SRM series, but with enough muscle for larger gigs.
Solid Wood Construction
Molded cabinets are perfect for portable loudspeakers like the SRM450, but to achieve the increased output needed for larger gigs, there's still no substitute for good ol' fashioned wood. Mackie's SR Series delivers the renowned simplicity and integrated active electronics of its legendary SRM series, but with higher output 2- and 3-way wooden cabinets. To be specific, the cabinets are constructed of 18mm Baltic birch plywood and pressure-injected structural resin, providing more than enough "knock" to win over any audience.
Integrated Active Electronics
Thanks to completely integrated Mackie Active electronics, the SR Series loudspeakers don't require any external amplifiers, crossovers or processing. The SR Series' internal amplifier modules sit on a mammoth aluminum heatsink that eliminates the need for fans. And the active circuitry inside provides precise electronic crossovers, level protection and time correction. Most importantly, having an integrated system in which the amplifier and all electronics can… read more be "tuned" to specific cabinet designs allowed Mackie loudspeaker engineers to completely maximize the SR Series' output and frequency response.
Patented Wavefront Horn
The 3-way SR1530z loudspeaker features an optimized wide-dispersion WaveFront horn design--a scientifically developed one-piece horn that blends the output of the mid- and high-frequency drivers. Unlike typical mid/high horn designs, with a WaveFront horn, the high-frequency section fires slightly downward into the six-inch mid-range dispersion pattern--creating a focused, single wave front with excellent phase and power response characteristics. The resulting 90 x 40 degree dispersion pattern provides open, natural sound for the entire audience, even at very high output levels.
Features
Built-in active circuitry provides precision crossover, electronic time correction, phase alignment and equalization
Wide-dispersion, ultra-low distortion, high frequency horn design
Complete electronic and component protection circuitry
Weight balanced with carrying handles for easy portability
Tri-amplified, with 300W RMS low-frequency, 100W RMS mid-frequency and 100W high-frequency amplifiers

"Useful in many applications..."
I want to get near field monitors so one day I will probably get some HR824s but untill then these work for many purposes - monitoring, live sound, etc. I dont think I will ever be able to listen to these things at unity gain on my board at the distance they sit from me (about 15 feet). These things are loud.
Sound
Not the best for monitoring, too much space between tweeter/cones...
Features
Could use a 1/4 inch in, the thru is nice though.
Quality
They just got moved halfway across ontario and I set them back up and they work perfectly. They withstood freezing temperatures no problem.
Value
To me, they were free so that is pretty much the best value you can get.
Manufacturer Support
Don't know.
The Wow Factor
They look really nice as my main speakers, make me feel like a big shot. I also like the blue power light on the front.
