Simple Design, Detailed Sound

Press the Sound button to toggle between 10 inspiring instrument tones: pianos, electric pianos, clav, harpsichord, organs, vibes, and strings. Of course, the "killer app" in any digital piano is its grand piano sound, and Korg has meticulously sampled two acoustic grands to create the exquisite piano sounds on the SP-170s. The detailed and dynamic Piano 1 sound is never more than one button-press away -- just press Piano Play.

Real Piano Feel

The SP-170s' weighted hammer-action keyboard is graded like a traditional piano, with a heavier touch in the bass octaves and read more lighter touch in the treble. Three-level adjustable Key Touch Control can match the response of the keyboard to your playing style. It's easy to adjust Key Touch, as well as transpose the keyboard and adjust reverb and chorus effects, simply by pressing particular keys on the keyboard, as described in the included manual. This ingenious and simple-to-use system allows for the elegant, uncluttered front panel on your SP-170s.

The Well-Connected Piano

Two powerful 9-watt speakers are built into the SP-170s for generous, room-filling sound. The on-board speakers mute automatically when either of 2 headphone jacks are in use -- perfect for late-night practice sessions. Plug in two pairs of headphones to play four-hands duets or share the piano with a teacher. There's even a pitch control, so you can "tune" the digital piano up or down to play duets with an acoustic piano or any other instrument. Connect the MIDI Out on the back of the SP-170s to transmit MIDI data to with any MIDI-compatible hardware or software. All this technology comes in a 27-pound package, available in either black or white finishes to complement any home, school, or house of worship. With everything you need in an instrument for such a low price, Korg makes owning an SP-170s Digital Piano as easy as it is to play one.

Korg SP170s Digital Piano, 88-Key

Compact and unobtrusive, the Korg SP-170s is designed for the modern world. Korg's Natural Weighted Hammer Action (NH) faithfully reproduces the touch of an acoustic piano. The two skillfully sampled concert grand piano sounds capture all the nuances of the performer's touch. A total of ten sounds are provided, including electric pianos, harpsichord, organs, strings, and more. Selectable Reverb and Chorus effects add character to the sound. The built-in speaker system delivers a deep and powerful sound; dual headphone jacks allow for parent/child or student/teacher private practice, or for just sharing with friends.

The piano essentials, captured in an easy-to-use instrument

The simple Korg SP-170 piano achieved popularity thanks to its focus on the two most important aspects of a piano performance: a comfortable keyboard, and a satisfying sound. While retaining this clean and simple design, the SP-170s controls have been optimized by moving the rear-mounted power switch and volume knob to the front panel, ensuring easy operation by those who may be using a digital piano for the first time. Two buttons - Sound and Piano Play - have been added. Pressing the Sound button lets you select any of the ten keyboard sounds; the Piano Play button quickly selects the Piano 1 sound, so great piano sound is always just one button press away!

Ten exquisite sounds, highlighted by an exhilarating grand piano

The Korg SP-170s features a duo of concert grand piano sounds, each lavishly recorded with meticulous care. Numerous velocity layers are used to capture nuances of playing dynamics, allowing the instrument to respond expressively to every delicate touch. In addition, sounds such as electric piano, harpsichord, and organ are also provided, delivering a total of ten premium sounds at your fingertips.

Faithfully reproduces an acoustic piano touch and feel

Korg's Natural Weighted Hammer Action (NH) keyboard is accurately weighted like a traditional piano, with a heavier touch in the lower ranges and becoming progressively lighter in the higher registers. Three levels of Key Touch Control allow the keyboard response to be matched to nearly any playing style, preserving all of the subtle expression of the original performance.

Reverb and Chorus effects

Individually selectable Reverb and Chorus effects add an extra dimension to the SP-170s's sound. The Reverb provides a lush spaciousness. The Chorus effect adds motion and warmth to the sound.

Improved sound

The Korg SP-170s features an enhanced speaker system, with two oval speakers (10 cm x 5 cm) generating sounds that are surprisingly spacious for the system's size. Along with the improved speaker quality, the structure of the piano itself has been redesigned to improve the resonance and tone, providing an even more powerful sound.

Dual headphone outputs

The rear panel provides two headphone jacks, allowing two people to enjoy the sound simultaneously. This is ideal for playing duets or sharing songs with a friend; in addition, parent and child or student and teacher can share a lesson with complete privacy. These same outputs can be used to connect the SP-170s to a digital recorder or an external amplifier.

The sound is incredible, fills the room. The keys are weighted it doesn't have useless bells and whistles and has ten basic sounds for you to accompany anyone. After this any bad sythn piano sounds will sound even worse than they already do and your transition to a real piano will be effortless. The only thing you'll ever need. Korg sp170s is the high quality system you'll grow into and will last a lifetime. I'm so satisfied and I highly recommend over the Yamaha that is similar to this.
