ISP Technologies Deci-Mate G Micro Noise Gate Pedal

Is your noise gate adaptive? The ISP Technologies Deci-Mate G pedal uses adaptive release response to eliminate noise with a natural-sounding noise gate.

The DECI-MATE G micro pedal is a full implementation of the world-renowned Decimator G circuit with patent-pending tracking improvements all in a small, micro pedal package. When real estate is critical the DECI-MATE G is the answer. Now you can have the best noise reduction available in a micro pedal package with the full functionality of the larger G version of the Decimator pedal.

The DECI-MATE G has a loop to insert your noisy pedals or connect to the effects loop of a guitar amplifier that has a series loop. The G version of the Decimator allows the noise reduction to directly track the guitar output. The advantage of tracking the direct guitar is the noise floor of the direct guitar output remains constant when you switch pedals or preamplifiers with different gain settings. This allows the DECI-MATE G to eliminate the noise in your rig without any need to adjust its threshold setting for different gains and the corresponding noise floor changes. You can switch between extreme high-gain and clean and never need to adjust the threshold.

Cutting-Edge Noise Gating

The ISP Technologies engineering team has spent years perfecting the operation of real time noise reduction and has been awarded multiple patents for the Decimator Technology. Patents include the technology for the adaptive response of the Decimator, which tracks the envelope of both super-fast staccato notes as well as long sustained notes. Other noise gates have a release knob compromise to adjust the read more release response in an attempt to best match the release to your playing style. With a typical gate, if you set a fast release to remove noise, the instant you stop playing the long-sustained notes will either get an undesirable cutoff or will chop off the signal with a very ugly modulated release as the signal decays.

The DECI-MATE G provides a fully adaptive release response, which tracks the envelope of the signal and instantly changes the release from super-fast to a long, smooth release for sustained notes. The new Decimator X technology is based on our new patent pending "Time Vector Integration" which eliminates any modulation of the sustained note. This allows long sustained notes to providing amazingly smooth and transparent release response.

Tone Preservation

Also, the DECI-MATE G won't alter your tone. The DECI-MATE G is a full analog design without any digital artifacts or aliasing for the most transparent noise reduction available. In order to fit the additional loop connections and keep the small package size the loop connections are done via a 3.5MM RTS jack and the breakout patch cable is included. With the DECI-MATE G, connect all your high gain pedals in the loop for totally noise free operation regardless of how much noise your gain pedals create, and then switch to totally clean without having to adjust the threshold.

The DECI-MATE G can also connect to a series loop of a typical guitar amplifier and eliminate both the noise from pedals in front of the amp and any preamplifier gain noise from the guitar amplifier. The patent-pending Time Vector Integration provides the absolute best release tracking, for incredibly smooth, sustained note release, and will instantly adapt for super-fast release with quick staccato notes.

Don't settle for a compromise in performance when you can have the best, most transparent real-time noise reduction available.

I've always said that ideally you don't want a noise gate. The reality is even the very best and "cleanest" gates have a LOT of active circuitry in them, and thus will have some impact on tone (wether or not this is noticeable is a can of worms we ain't opening right now). But the other reality is that lots of pedals (vintage in particular) are super noisy and the natural noise from the pre-amp you get (some amps a lot worse than others) is always something that needs to be delt with when recording. The ISP gate from my experience has been the most transparent (I have never been able to tell its on nor has anyone else), but also the best tracking. The trick is to know how to properly integrate this gate into your pedal board. The absolute best way to use this pedal is with the 4 cable method. When you set up this way the gate will directly track your guitar input while also killing the noise generated by your gain pedal stack as well as taking care of any noise from the pre-amp. If you are unfamiliar with the 4 cable method, it's worth learning about, with really the only down side being that an amp with an effects loop is required. This is how you will get the most effective suppression of noise from your whole rig, while maintaining the natural dynamics of your guitar and avoiding cut offs and drop outs from the gate. If you simply slap this pedal after your gain stack and expect it to sound transparent and natural, you are mistaken.

Sound
When read more used with the 4 cable method, this noise gate is the most natural and transparent sounding noise gate I have found to date. It tracks extremely well, and certainly does the trick of taken care of noise.

Features
The miniature case size is really nice for pedal board space. The 3.5mm to dual TS 1/4in effects loop jack and cable also streamline wiring the 4 cable method route up very easy and cleanly.

Ease of Use
Once you get the pedal set up properly in your chain, it's got a single threshold knob. You basically increase the threshold till its dead silent then you back it off until you barley hear the noise come back in then slight increase again. It will be silent, but not over "gate-y"

Quality
Really solid mini enclosure build. Unless I do something to it on accident I don't see why this wouldn't last forever.

Value
A bit on the pricey end for noise gates, but it does exactly what it is supposed to do, and seems to be the most effective one I have found.

The Wow Factor
If you need a gate then its super appealing!
