Ibanez AE245JR Acoustic-Electric Guitar (with Gig Bag)

This all-mahogany AE245JR generates a woody, warm tone with a soft response when fingerpicking and punchy high-mids with a clear projection when strumming.

Born from a long lineage of stringed instruments, the acoustic guitar is steeped in tradition. But music continues to evolve, and musicians demand inspiring new tools with which to carve out their own signature sound. Fueled by this, we developed Ibanez AE, our new flagship series of acoustic-electric guitars, designed specifically for the acoustic performer.

The AE body shape features contemporary design elements to achieve high playability and create a well-balanced sound that adheres to the concept of the AE series. The combination of the specially designed Scalloped X Bracing and Tone Projection Back Bracing produces a versatile sound character. A rich sustain is provided, which works for both finger and plectrum playing.

The all-Mahogany body of the AE245JR generates a woody, warm tone with a soft response when finger picking and provides punchy high-mids with a clear projection when strumming. The fretboard inlay has a delicate but dynamic design. The wooden inlays give a sophisticated feel to the guitar. The compact, onboard active preamp simply features a mute switch to eliminate unexpected parameter changes during performances. This helps reduce the guitar's size and weight, minimize body contact, and maximize the acoustic tone. The newly designed under-the-saddle pickup equalizes the volume of each string and delivers a well-balanced signal. The natural acoustic tone from this active circuit is remarkably stable and resists noise. It will support performances on read more stage, from solos to ensembles. read less

Item arrived on time, was surpised That this guitar was made in China( Cort factory, maybe) but not a deal breaker since quality is good The wooden tree of life inlay really highlights this guitar, with ovangkol fretboard and bridge, open pore mahogany back and sides. Wood grain really popped up after oiling it. Plain binding(plasticky material) is my only gripe. Action is spot on and feels like an electric guitar and the 24” scale makes it easy for bends. No fret buzz or sharp fret edges. Guitar holds tune well with its open gear tuners. For electronics, there is an undersaddle pickup and a 1/4 endpin jack, powered by 2 2032 coin batteries, no volume and eq controls , just a plain input to maintain that classic look. For a junior scale this has good projection fill a medium sized room, with a scalloped x bracing. Sound is warm from the solid mahogany back and sides. Good dynamics and responds well to picking nuances. Bass is not too boomy but this guitar is more attuned to midrange/ higher midrange frequencies. I haven’t tried it plugged but mostly this will be my couch guitar anyways. This guitar looks more expensive compared to its price with the exception of the plain binding( could have made it abalone to match its soundhole). Overall a good buy!
