We use it for theatre show tracks and there is plenty of detail and balance in mid and high ranges. The speaker will handle some bass as long as it is not thumping. (the case resonates)The max sound level is similar to that produced by a 40 watt RMS amplifier into an efficient speaker. The sound will shut off if you drive the inputs to the clipping level which is not loud enough for disco but just fine for light music and vocal
