This SG features a rounded profile mahogany neck, bound rosewood fingerboard, long tenon 19th fret neck joint, and a solid mahogany body that provides the backbone for singing sustain. The 490R and 490T Alnico 2 pickups provide the power to drive. A black, 5-ply, full-face pickguard set this SG Standard apart from others... a truly versatile classic.

This SG has exceeded my expectations… and I am a reasonably picky individual. The color is brilliant (I have waited a very long time for a Gibson in this particular color in this price bracket) and the pickups are extraordinary responsive and ‘feel’ great with this particular instrument. Syrupy. Bubbly. Chime without being brittle. Great output. Good resonance unplugged. After adjusting the action and doing the tweaks that I always do to SG Standards (foam wedges under the pickups so they slope with the strings, setup, nut filing (for tuning stability and to facilitate 10-52s) truss Rod adjustment, saddle adjustment, and what not) it was ready to go. I know that sounds like a lot but with many guitar brands it’s a lot more than that . Fantastic Instrument!
