Introduced in 1942 and affectionately known as "The Workhorse", this legendary instrument stands at the heart of Gibson's round-shoulder dreadnought family. Crafted with a round-shoulder dreadnought body, the J-45 Standard pairs solid Mahogany back and sides with a solid Sitka Spruce top for the unmistakable tone heard across decades of recordings. Multi-ply binding accents the top, while the back is finished with the single-ply binding. The Mahogany neck features a fast, comfortable SlimTaper profile and is joined to the body with a compound dovetail joint and hot hide glue, enhancing sustain and resonance. The Rosewood fretboard carries 20 standard frets and is inlaid with classic mother-of-pearl dots. At the headstock, a mother-of-pearl Gibson logo is joined by premium Grover Rotomatic tuners and a TUSQ nut, delivering smooth performance and dependable tuning stability.
